Poland is currently conducting a search for an unidentified flying object that entered its airspace from the direction of Belarus, according to the country's Defense Ministry. The object, which is thought to be an observation balloon, was detected by the flight control center but radar contact was lost near the town of Rypin. In response, two MiG-29s and an F-16 were sent into the air to intercept it. The search team, consisting of around ten soldiers, is currently scouring the area. This incident follows two other known incursions into Polish airspace since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which is raising concerns about Poland's air defenses amid new risks created by the ongoing conflict. In November, two Polish men were killed when a missile landed in eastern Poland, and in April, debris, potentially a missile, was discovered in the woods near Zamosc. The Ministry of Defense later acknowledged that the debris entered Polish airspace in December, but the authorities were not immediately alerted.
