The Unknown Connections collection is a collaborative NFT project by the BLNK Collective.
This project serves as a playground for individual and collaborative creativity, inviting you as an artist to leave your mark on an ever-expanding canvas.
The main piece of the collection fuses all of these submissions into one singular artwork, while you can either receive the individual submission to your wallet or let us auction them off as a collective. The main piece will remain in the possession of the collective and be managed and governed by the community for the foreseeable future.
Unknown Connections as a theme was chosen as it mirrors both the crypto ethos and the creation process itself.
The collection is set up in such a way that new creations build upon what came before, diversifying the styles and interpretations while giving new meaning to the whole.
We don’t know and might never know who will collect our artwork. We don’t know today who will participate in this creative process, who will build upon our submission and how they will interpret what was minted before. We don’t know how this collection will evolve, or for how long.
All doors are open. Tomorrow will gift context to today.
If you’re an artist interested in participating in this project you will be assigned a tile that’s adjacent to previously submitted artwork by other creators, and asked to create a piece that seamlessly integrates with those works.
After your work has been submitted, we will:
Mint your piece as part of the collection
Credit you as the creator in the metadata
Send it to your wallet OR set up an auction (your choice)
Add your work to the main canvas
Airdrop you $BLNK tokens for governance
Unlock access/update your discord role to the artist only channels
As stated above, the individual contributions (tiles) will be either auctioned off at a yet to be announced minimum bid, or transferred to your wallet if you so choose. Every artist will be able to choose one or the other for their own submission.
If you allow us to set up an auction or initial sale for your piece, you will receive 90% of the sales price, with 10% being kept by the collective to keep future mints going. You will also receive 100,000 $BLNK token.
If you choose to receive the minted NFT of your artwork instead, you will receive that NFT and $50,000 BLNK token.
In both cases, resale royalties will go toward the collective treasury to keep the project self-sufficient. This allows us to lower the barrier to entry for anyone interested in participating, by continuously covering minting fees through our treasury.
The amounts of $BLNK received will be adapted regularly to ensure that we don’t run out of tokens to distribute to new artists. The new amounts will be voted on by the community.
The $BLNK token is an ERC20 token on Polygon and serves as an access and governance token for the BLNK Collective. The token can be shared freely and used to invite new artists to the collective, facilitating organic growth, curation and moderation of the community.

The smart contract for this collection has been set up using manifold.xyz, ensuring that we have full control over the contract and can work independently of any platforms.
Manifold allows us to continuously mint and manage the NFT collection and to decentralize the storage of our artwork using arweave. The contract and therefore the NFTs was minted on the Ethereum blockchain.
The ownership of the contract is already transferred to our community (multisignature) wallet. Admin rights can only be set for individual wallets and not multisignatures at the moment, which necessitates nominating and voting for trustworthy individual members of the community to take care of the minting process.
As soon as Manifold allows for access through WalletConnect, we will migrate the admin rights to the community wallet as well, ensuring that no one individual has complete control over the collection.

This collection will take some time to get off the ground by design. The nature of this process inherently turns the hype machine on its head and serves to give everyone involved ample time to get acquainted to every part of it, and make their own choices whether to participate or not.
There will be considerable overhead in coordinating the distribution of individual tiles and updating the main canvas to reflect new submissions, and this will be reflected in the
