John Henrik Clarke was a fearless warrior for anti-black oppression and the liberation of African people. A Black American born in 1915 in Union Springs, Alabama, Clarke dedicated his life to decolonizing knowledge and challenging white supremacy, a global system of racial hatred and exploitation. He was a pioneer of modern African studies in western academia and a relentless agent of truth, who exposed the lies of European dominance which sought to erase the knowledge of the rich cultural history and achievements of Africa and her descendants.

Dr. Clarke was a man of uncompromising conviction and unwavering determination. He was an educator, author, and public speaker who galvanized generations with his passionate commitment to historical facts. He was a master of chronology, whose speeches and lectures brought truth revealing light. He was a visionary who saw the necessity of reclaiming and restoring the dignity of Africa and its people.

Dr. Clarke's contributions to the African liberation struggle cannot be overstated. His groundbreaking works, such as "Christopher Columbus and the Afrikan Holocaust" and "African People In World History” balanced the dominant narratives of colonialism and enslavement with information and analysis revealing Africa’s unmatched development long before Europe had any place on the world stage. He was a true comrade in the fight against white supremacy, who used his formidable intellect to advance the cause of his people.

In recognition of his revolutionary spirit, Clarke was honored by numerous organizations, including the African Heritage Studies Association and the National Association of Black Studies. He was also appointed to numerous political and cultural institutions, including the National Council of Black Studies and the National Museum of African Art.

John Henrik Clarke was a warrior for freedom and a champion of anti-oppression.
