Have you watched The Apprentice? Netflix released The Apprentice on February 1st, two weeks ago.
The series features 16 candidates from all over the world competing in a high-stakes game involving both business and physical challenges for the chance to receive a US$250,000 job offer to work directly under ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong as his protege.
Several pop-ups in my Netflix app led me to start watching the series. Apart from Shark Tank, I rarely watch shows like this. When I started watching the first episode of the series, I wasn’t taking any notes on my phone. As with any other show I watch while on the go, I viewed the show as if it were a regular program.
After watching several episodes of the series’ “boardroom” scenes and watching the team prepare for the pitch, I began to take notes. My attention was focused on CEO Chatri Sityodtong’s feedback and the team’s relationships.

As a young and aspiring entrepreneur, I am curious about what works for other business owners around the world. I would read Forbes’ articles and discover other startup-related short-form content. The show served as a mini mentorship program for me. I thought that CEO Chatri Sityodtong’s feedback and the interaction between the team members was something worth noting down for future references and it will be helpful for me moving forward. I made some notes that I believe will help me improve my own marketing and pitching skills.
Branding
Pricing, packing is extremely important
Pitching and pitch deck
Be energetic
Be prepared for the presentation
Graphics for the pitch deck should be professionally designed (e.g. spacing, etc.)
Have to be executed clearly
Have to be detailed with it
Members of the team need to work together to accomplish tasks
We should try to do things out of our comfort zone
Members of a team shouldn’t be pushy, they take responsibility for their own mistakes.
There are more notes in my app but I will not share them all here. You should watch the series on your own to gain your own unique insight into the business challenges they face.
If I were given the opportunity to participate in an interview like The Apprentice (assuming I was qualified for the job), I would give it my all, just like any other interview. However, being in such a unique environment, I would also use the opportunity to learn from others around the world.
Two major awards were recently awarded to “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition” at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2021 (AAA). It topped the categories for “Best Non-Scripted Entertainment” and “Best Adaptation of an Existing Format.”
Apart from Netflix, I am not sure where one can watch the series.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on The Apprentice if you’ve seen it! Did you learn anything from the show?
