A Chainalysis report shows that more than half of ERC-20 tokens on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) can be linked to pump-and-dump schemes. While 54% of the tokens look impressive, they represent only 1.3% of the total trading volume on DEX. A 2023 report analyzing over 160,000 tokens on DEX indicates that organizers of "dump and dump" schemes earned a combined $241.6 million, averaging about $2500 per token, with most of the "dumps" occurring in the first few weeks after token launch.
