Feeling safe and being safe are two very different things.
Humans tend to create internal environments that match our past experiences and future hopes.
Sometimes the internal world we have created does not accurately reflect the reality of our external environment.
Just because it feels safer in a car, does not mean it is safer than a commercial airliner.
Just because it feels safe to own something worth $200,000 in a meta mask wallet, does not mean itโs as safe as having it locked in a safety deposit box.
As designers we have the opportunity to be intentional about how we help people create their internal environments.
It would behoove us to consider this dynamic when we create new experiences that rely on trust and safety in order to thrive.
