According to the Nikkei News, the 2022 trade statistics released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance recently showed that Japan’s exports to Russia were 524 billion yen, a decrease of 39.8% from the previous fiscal year. The Group of Seven (G7) collectively imposed sanctions on Russia, which banned exports of a wide range of products to Russia. Exports of electronic components, communication equipment and other electrical equipment to Russia decreased by 69.2% year-on-year. Exports of general machinery such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment to Russia also fell by about 50%. Japan's LNG imports from Russia were 675.4 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 44.0%.
