Your friend who’s been diving into the crypto world since 2017. I’ve been obsessing lately over some Layer-1 and Layer-2 action with Sonic, Sui, and Base living rent-free in my head. These chains are creating some amazing things in 2025, and I’m hooked. From Sonic’s speedy projects like deBridge and Shadow Exchange, to Base’s social twist with Interface, to Sui’s BTC staking moves, there’s so much to unpack. Full disclosure: this is not financial advice, just my thoughts and opinions from kicking around this space. Let’s dive into why I’m vibing with these right now!
Sonic’s been my jam as I was a big investor in FTM in 2019 and since the change, It's been a big pick for me. It’s a Layer-1 beast doing 10,000 transactions a second. On the Sonic network, I’ve been eyeing deBridge lately. It’s this slick cross-chain bridge moving assets between Sonic, Solana, Ethereum, you name it at light speed. I’ve messed with bridges before, but deBridge is another story the speed is unlike anything I have seen before. Then there’s Shadow Exchange, Sonic’s DeFi engine. It’s a DEX (Decentralised Exchange), people who stake get rewards for sticking around, and it’s pulling in crazy TVL. Since January, let's just say it's up a lot... Sonic’s proving crypto’s got legs beyond charts!
Sui’s another Layer-1 stealing my attention. It’s fast, it’s slick, and that move language vibe keeps it tight for developers. Why I like it? Bitcoin staking with Lombard’s LBTC and Rings Protocol’s scBTC. You lock up BTC, get LBTC or scBTC, and it’s liquid meaning you use it in DeFi on Sui while earning yield. I’ve held BTC since forever, and seeing it work harder without selling feels like a cheat code, others have tried it but this is first of its kind. So, personally SUI is on my list.
Base, that Ethereum rollup, is my go to Layer-2. It’s cheap, fast, and feels like home for regular folks like us. Everything they are doing right now show's you why they are performing so well. Community is everything to them, Base is built for builders, so it's attracting the best of the best developers which is resulting in the best applications. From Social applications, payment and invoicing right to gaming and DeFi, you name it, it's built on Base. Shhh.. Between us, this is where I want to work.
These three aren’t just tech flexes, they are plays I that I think will shape crypto. Sonic’s speed reminds me of my $18 Solana bet, rough starts, big payoffs. Sui’s BTC staking is like my old stash finding new life, no trading needed. Base? It’s the community I’ve been building on X and Warpcast, but on-chain. They’re not about buying and selling for me, it’s the real-world use. Payments are faster than ever, social vibes beat stale loyalty points, and my BTC’s being put to work.
This trio’s got legs. Sonic’s dev perks with 90% fee cuts could flood it with projects like Shadow.
Sui’s BTC play might drag more old-school holders like me into DeFi.
Base could turn into crypto’s social and builders hub.
I’ve seen crypto grow from a Twitter rant to this, and these chains feel like the next chapter. They’re not just coins, they’re rewiring how we connect, earn, and play!
Here’s the real talk. Crypto’s not just a market, it’s a toolbox. Sonic’s bridging worlds, Sui’s waking up BTC, Base is making it social. These layers are my shot at something new, maybe that crypto gig I’m chasing. After reading this has it got you think about the future?
Maybe Sonic, Sui, and Base will help bring the world onchain, one layer at a time! I’m feeling hopeful, and I bet y’all are too. What’s your pick? Do you agree with any of these 3 or are you supporting something else? Drop your thoughts below I'd love to hear what you think?
P.S, Again this is not financial advice, please do your own research before investing in these or any other projects in the web3 & crypto space.
