Hey y’all, JC here again.
I’ve been thinking about how much of my journey in crypto so far has happened in the DMs.
Not on a stage.
Not in some investor meeting.
Not even through job boards or hiring posts.
But in casual messages.
Late-night convos.
Random replies that turned into deep chats.
It’s wild how underrated DMs are in this space.
Crypto is chaotic, noisy, and fast but it also means something.
If you genuinely show up, share your thoughts, and engage in the comments… people notice.
A reply turns into a conversation.
A conversation turns into a coffee catch-up.
And sometimes, that coffee turns into a project, a freelance gig, or even a long-term role.
This space isn’t built on resumes.
It’s built on reputation.
And reputation, weirdly enough, can start with a meme reply or a thoughtful comment on someone’s thread.
I’ve connected with builders, writers, devs, and founders all through just being in the mix.
No fancy intros. Just showing up consistently.
Some of the people I talk to daily?
We’ve never even met in real life.
But we’ve built trust just by talking ideas, sharing thoughts, giving feedback, and just being decent people to each other.
And look, sometimes it leads somewhere.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
But the point is, you won’t know unless you’re in it.
Not lurking.
Not waiting for permission.
Actually posting.
Engaging.
Starting conversations.
So if you’re feeling stuck or like you’re not “doing enough” in this space…
DM someone.
Comment something thoughtful.
Start a small convo.
That’s how it starts.
Not everything needs to be a pitch.
Sometimes just being genuinely curious is enough to open a door.
Let’s keep building.
Let’s keep talking.
I appreciate you being here
