You will often see youtubers and twitter influencers end off a video or thread with: Not Financial Advice (NFA) and that you must Do Your Own Research (DYOR). But…
Have you ever wondered where do I start?
Where to look?
What information is important (or not)?
You could essentially spend hours reading through the lore, roadmap, website, Discord, Twitter, Medium etc. only to come out with a mountain of information that drowns you. It is essential to then sieve out only the pertinent information to justify your decision: Mint or Not?
DYOR is an essential skill to acquire and master as you may not always find objective and rational views out there. The key is to Make Your Own Decision (MYOD).
Without further a do, here’s a quick and dirty guide to DYOR (Buzzea’s point of view), read on 👇🏻
Discord → Medium/Whitepaper → Website
Sounds easy? It is!
Just 4 key information that you need to look out for here. If they are not available on Discord, search for them in the next step.
Team socials/information
- Search for socials on their Discord profile
- Find a #team-info channel
Roadmap
Whitepaper/Articles
Mint info
Usually, here is where you find detailed information about the project and their vision. But why not start here you ask?
Personally I find it better to get an overview from Discord before diving deeper into the project. The overview helps me categorise information better in their little shelves.
Things you might find here:
Holder benefits
Mint information
Lore
Education
Roadmap
Tokenomics
This is the final hurdle, you are almost at the end. Hope you have been taking notes (about the project) somewhere?
To me, the website is just the icing on the cake. Here you will find all the jargons, fluff and everything nice that serves to convince you to mint.
A well designed website shows how much effort the team had put in, and a testament to the team’s commitment to the project.
Remember what I said about taking notes?
Writing the information down, even if it is in point form helps you recall those information better at a later date. Especially those of you degens that are in 100+ servers 👀
After I have reviewed a project, I like to rank it based on one of these:
💸 Degen Play = Money I'd be willing to lose
🤔 Mint With Care = Mint 1/2
🤯 Max Mint = Mint as many as I can

Now that you have learnt to fish, you do not need anyone else to fish for you!
Where to start?
I urge you to go forth, find a project that you might have gotten whitelisted through a raffle. Start from there, you will find the research rewarding, for yourself, and your wallet.
Thereafter, share it, teach it, debate about it, do with it how you will. But know this, you have walked out of YOUR OWN research a more informed man/woman than you were before.
