Evolving Influencers
It’s clear that influencers have come a long way from their traditional roots. Gone are the days when only a few voices dominated the conversation. Now, online, each emerging ecosystem entirely shifts the way we connect. The evolution of influence is not just about who is speaking, but about how their community is amplified by the ever-changing tools at their disposal. Over the coming weeks, we hope to explore the ways in which new infrastructure and products, enabled by web3, are transformin...
Everything Connects
Novel standards and new combinations of tokens always seem to energize digital assets. ERC-721s achieved mainstream attention shortly after the 2017 release and trickled into the NFT mania of 2021, ERC-1155s enabled a more semi-fungible experience and encouraged “casual” minting with open editions..etc. Just a few months ago, we explored 404s as they revealed a blend of ERC-20 and ERC-721 features. As it becomes clear that both NFTs and memecoins are the in-game currencies of the internet, ex...
Intents Are All You Need
The concept of “intent” has shifted from a crypto buzzword to a pillar of AI. LLMs and advancements in natural language processing have unlocked unprecedented opportunities for interaction, offering users the ability to naturally convey desires and the set of conditions for AI to navigate. We have detailed how intent frameworks stand to abstract user interactions across decentralized networks in this blog, but recent developments in AI have illustrated how intents and natural language process...

Welcome to Hive Mind, a new media publication covering DAOs, projects, and trends emerging in crypto, Web3 and beyond.
If you're not familiar with DAOs, they’re decentralized communities that operate on blockchains, where members can make decisions and allocate resources in a transparent way. They’re internet-native organizations that encourage people to come together and work towards a common goal, without the need for a central authority or hierarchy. A DAO can take on many forms and center on a range of activities, from venture investing, NFT collecting, and media production to product development and social clubs—possibly even encapsulating many concepts all at once.
DAOs are bringing us to a new era of collaboration and community-driven media creation. With networks embedded and connected on-chain, the collective intelligence of each DAO can be tapped through the Hive Mind. Over the past few years, many DAO’s have launched media of their own, including: High Frequency by Noise, The Scarlet Letter by Red, Works in Progress from Friends with Benefits, Dirt, and research hubs like Water & Music.
As explained by Steph Alinsung, in Decentralized Media in Web3 is Not What You Think It Is, Web3 media goes beyond content creation, “all DAOs are engaged in decision-making processes and governance. Narratives, facilitated by our media, is how we shape governance, the culture of our individual organizations, and the culture of the Web3 space at large.” Every decision that gets made, governance proposal that gets crafted, or contribution made by a member, are all narrative opportunities that guide a DAO’s evolution as it breaks through to the mainstream. Through actions of members and through collaboration, DAOs point towards a new future of media creation: one that isn’t driven by traditional media companies and one where readers are provided more in-depth information and context than what is otherwise available today.
At Hive Mind, we believe in this future. An alternative to legacy media’s stronghold on production and distribution, Hive Mind brings DAOs together to pollinate a diverse ecosystem of ideas and perspectives. More than just a media publication—we’re also an evolving hub for DAOs and the projects, founders, artists, DAO members and other creators that each collective supports. It’s a place where like-minded individuals can connect, share ideas, collaborate, and provide insight and analysis that is an alternative to the echo chambers of crypto twitter.

Hive Mind brings perspectives together from DAOs focused on venture, art, music, fashion, culture, gaming, and more including:
👾 The LAO: The mothership. Brought to life in Fall 2019, The LAO focuses on supporting early-stage venture projects. Also known as the DAO of DAOs, referring to its role in incubating and seeding even more DAOs, throughout the Hive Mind, and beyond.
🦩 Flamingo: The Medicis of NFTs. Flamingo is a flamboyance of early NFT collectors and DAO adopters, who saw the potential of digital art and on-chain cultural value before others.
🔴 Red: A digital fashion house. With members who are designers, founders, and investors themselves, Red funds and consults with emerging players in the world of digital fashion.
😜 Neon: The metaverse DAO. Formed as a collaboration between Flamingo, RTFKT, and mDAO, Neon brings the metaverse and all forms of internet-native world building to life.
🙉 Noise: A music DAO. Noise is focused on the cross-section of music and crypto, whether that be artist’s relationships with fans, the creation of generative audio and audiovisual NFTs, and more.
🧪 Beaker: A DeSci DAO. Beaker supports experiments and innovation in the realm of Decentralized Science from crypto-native incentive mechanisms, to funding R&D, and creating an open data ecosystem.
🕹 Ready Player: Gaming DAO meets guild. Ready Player, aka RPD, is a guild of players that are experimenting with games leveraging crypto.
🚀 Spaceship: An early-stage venture DAO. Spaceship is focused on backing every category of crypto including infrastructure, NFTs, DeFi, and beyond.
🦄 Unicorn: A female/LGBTQIA+ focused DAO. Unicorn is a collector DAO, amassing a vast trove of NFTs by LGBTQIA+ and women-identified artists.
🥥 C0C0: Stewards of CC0. CC0, or open licensed projects, will create a new universe of intellectual property to match the speed and composability of the internet.
Each week, we'll release a Hive Mind newsletter on a subject that is top of mind from the hive including developments in DAO governance and operations, trend reports, profiles on projects, conversation with founders, and op-eds from members.
