# How to change RPC on Metamask

Have you ever faced one of these issues?

*   The balance doesn’t show up correctly.
    
*   Things keep loading forever.
    
*   Can not send or make transactions on any tokens.
    
*   Keep getting errors on any transaction.
    
*   Gas fee estimation is unavailable.
    

It’s possible that the [RPC](https://www.alchemy.com/overviews/rpc-node) network was down or congested. To overcome these issues, let’s try to change the RPC.

**Steps**

1.  Go to [Chainlist](https://chainlist.org/) — where you can explore and easily add new networks to your Metamask wallet.
    
2.  Select a network that you are using. I select [Arbitrum](https://arbitrum.foundation/) as an example.
    
3.  Select one of these RPCs. The **available ✅** one with the **highest height**, and the **lowest latency**, is preferred. Copy the URL of the selected one.
    
4.  Open Metamask -> Settings -> Networks -> Select a network then paste the URL to the **New RPC URL.**
