Weekly Report | Dec 25th — 31st, 2023

Weekly Highlights

  1. Addressed issues such as TEE Worker batch verification errors for active file random challenge proofs and failures in executing the CESS Node startup command by the nodeadm program.

  2. The RPC framework for TEE Worker was upgraded to Tonic-based gRPC, ensuring consistency in interactions with CESS Node and storage nodes. This enhancement improves code uniformity and overall program efficiency.

  3. Storage node with frequent TEE Worker verification of random challenge proofs and user file Tag calculation problems were fixed. Node operations are much more stable with these resolutions.

  4. CESS Senior Ambassador Andy participated in Gate Live Crypto Talk.

  5. Secured over $8 million in our first funding round, grateful for the support from our community, partners, and investors.

Project Development Details

The CESS testnet has been updated to v0.7.5 and consists of consensus node and storage node. Consensus Node maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node)and serve as the “data authentication station” (by TEE Worker). Storage Node provide verifiable storage space and serve as the “data storage pool” in the CESS network.

  1. Consensus Miner [v0.7.5]

  • Resolved TEE Worker batch verification errors for service file random challenge proofs.

  • Updated the consensus node user operation manual, introducing TEE Worker types and new deployment methods.

  • Fixed compatibility issues between nodeadm program and CESS Node versions.

  • Upgraded TEE Worker RPC framework to Tonic gRPC for improved service request processing efficiency.

2. Storage Miner [v0.7.8]

  • Addressed storage node issues related to frequent requests for TEE Worker verification of idle random challenge proofs.

  • Fixed problems preventing storage nodes from triggering Tag calculation tasks during storage and recovery of user files.

  • Resolved decoding failures when storage nodes read Tag files for random challenge proof calculation.

  • Fixed validation failures during storage node submission of random challenge verification results to the chain.

  • Corrected issues causing storage nodes to fail in querying reward information due to incorrect parsing of transaction events.

CESS is a blockchain powered decentralized storage and content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure for Web3. By utilizing a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) model, CESS drives mass deployment of network nodes globally through incentives. The first of its kind, decentralized object storage services (DeOSS) by CESS has significantly contributed to the gradual enrichment and flourishing of the product ecosystem within the CESS network, online file sharing tool (DeShare), and public chain snapshot storage services have been incubated. The developments for this week are as follows:

Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)

  • Fixed the issue causing upload failures for large files in DeOSS due to connection timeouts.

Testnet

Overview:

31 days after the v0.7.5 testnet was launched. More details on CESS blockchain explorer. If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.

  • 9 consensus node

  • 939 storage node

  • 1.48 PiB effective storage space

  • 5.55 PiB total storage space

Event:

The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches.

Community Activities

  • CESS Senior Ambassador Andy participated in insightful discussions alongside industry experts such as WANG@Dida, Yuan Gao, and EASTERN. The collective knowledge shared during the session contributed to a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape in the field of decentralized storage and content delivery networks.
