Ever since I read Snow Crash when I was about 12(?) years old, I have been waiting for the Metaverse to arrive. Last night I went to Club XYZ in Sandbox and saw everything from a dino in a onesie to an ephemeral cloud getting down on the dancefloor. You can be ANYTHING in the Metaverse!!! Why did Zuckerburg decide to be himself in a black bodysuit? That does NOT make me excited about Meta. Could he have presented a more boring vision of the future of the Metaverse?
Lately I have been trying out VoxEdit, Blender and next up is Unity, and don’t forget Unreal Engine 4. I’ve visited Somnium, Decentraland, the Sandbox, and many other strange places I never dreamed would exist in my lifetime. I am an over 50 female and this stuff is for everyone. Don’t short change yourself of this new universe of experience. The Pandemic has accelerated the virtual world in a way nothing else has.
Every week I learn about some mind blowing new creation. This week it’s digital fashion. Mutani, The Fabricant, The Dematerialized, Meta Factory, and RTFKT are just some of the amazing sites I checked into. It’s like one of those things I have always wanted but never knew what it was. The second I learned about this sector I was like, “Of course, this will be sooooo HUGE!” How do I know? The most annoying thing to me about every metaverse I have visited, and every blockchain game I have played is: lack of choices for your appearance. Some of them don’t even offer non-realistic hair and skin colors.
So I am trying out the different programs for creating digital wearables to find the one that resonates with me, or to become part of a group creating something even better than what currently exists. Who will dress the giant spiders and dinos? They deserve cool accessories too. What about antigravity clothes, morphing clothes, pattern changing clothes, and more stuff I haven’t even thought of yet? I want to try it all, and play with it all.
