I am still traveling. Time has taken on another meaning, it's stretching aided by the never setting sun and the sleep I've lost and can't never regain. You can't save or invest sleep, to enjoy its return at a later time. No future options.
Told can't sleep there. Told to buy a drink. Told to not stretch out and close my eyes. This corner of the well-lit airport is reserved for customers of Bewley's, those who drink beer into 3am before pausing shortly for bag drop and security, arriving totally hammered into their southern European holiday destination. But fret not, its a package deal. Brain can turn off.
I packaged my own. That's why I'm still traveling. And I've spent nearly € 100 on groceries for a week in a cabin. The reindeer meat broke the bank. Bear was outside my budget. Got beans instead. Both starts with B, a viable alternative sufficiently replacing the desired product.
My mind circles between two realities:
To plan, book, prep.
To shown up.
I breath and calm myself: I prepped the necessary. I will sleep in a bed tonight. I will have a basic breakfast tomorrow. Necessary prep before a 20 km hike. Or I hitch a ride. And there the voice is again: Just book an OTAXI. Not Oman taxi, brain sufficiently awake to catch the similarity and download the correct app. I prepped for the possibility to book.
But I want to keep x, that Roman letter teenagers shriek away from. I want to have the unknown at the end. It isn't enough for me, not knowing exactly how the kitchen is furnished. A wood stove is mentioned in the description, the picture kinda depicts a coffee maker and a fridge. I pinch and zoom. Partly happy partly disappointed that charm is replaced by a gas stove. Cooking made more convenient. Re-reading the description in disbelieve I notice that a shower is present. But no notion of gas stove. I will have to wait and discover how I am heating up my beans.
The beans come in flavoured sauce, or so I hope. The ingredient list looked too long for just being dried beans. I could have asked for help. I could have looked it up. "Should have" the voice admonishes me. I'll be stuck in the cabin for 7 days with 3 cartons of beans, 3 small cans of tuna, some reindeer meat, canned fish of an unknown kind and something I hope is oats. I got it in the breakfast section. I compared labels on packaging with nice pictures to infer what Oats is in Finnish. I got honey in little singular sachets because they remind me of my friend. I don't know what I'll do with them. I have vitamin tablets and electrolytes and something I forgot.
I have coffee, I'll be fine.
