In December we transitioned from being a purely crypto label into a more traditional label that shares in the revenue artists generate from streaming.
Our first signing - Daniel Allan - has since generated over 5m streams on Spotify alone across the first 5 songs we've dropped together, setting the stage for more artists to come.
Since then, we've onboarded with a new platform called Cobrand for distribution and have also been using their tools to capture content from fans during different shows and release cycles.
Starting this month, we're excited to welcome another two artists to Coop Recs and start to really ramp up on elevated content and distribution services for up and coming producers in both the US and Tokyo.
As we shared in our last update - the move to Tokyo has been a perfect hub for shows that act as a top of funnel for digital marketing and singing emerging talent. Daniel's most recent track - Gloss - had a video from our Tokyo show go viral with 100k likes, propelling it to be the most streamed track on release date yet. Pair that with the Coop Recs team posting videos across more than 10 accounts on both TikTok and IG and we're quietly building an engine to sign and market developing dance acts in the modern world.
This content funnel has been the main focus of ours on the development side - looking to further automate sharing high quality content and fan submitted videos across different pages owned and operated by the label.
With 5 shows coming up in Japan at the end of May and early June - we're really doubling down on getting the most epic show footage possible, and using that footage to promote artists on the label.
We've been keeping a close eye on crypto as well - and while it's not something we're actively focusing on right now, the main motivation is to create a business that's self sustainable and then finding a way to bring that engine onchain.
As always - if you're reading this and planning a trip to Japan, make sure to DM Coop to see what's happening on the ground floor!
