It's been two weeks since moving to Tokyo to kick off our new event series.
With 3 sold out shows in the books, we're slowly nurturing a strong IRL music community and content to match.
We kicked it off with Daniel Allan at CIRCUS Tokyo and followed it up with two MPH shows in Osaka and Tokyo. Across all three of these events, we sold our first 1000 tickets on a partner platform called ITM Studio and have built a text/mailing list of 2000 electronic fans in Japan.
If you've been following Coop's Twitter - you'll notice that its now a full blown Japanese account. The reason for this is that Japan is actually the most active country on X across the world, and with Grok's baked in translations - it's now easier than ever to communicate with a part of the world that speaks an entirely different language.
Taking it a step further - the fandom for music in Japan is the strongest I've ever seen and its really powerful to be able to leverage the early network effects from crypto twitter with a growing audience of music fans based here in Tokyo.
The wider ambition is to use the shows in Japan as a top of funnel driver for signing new artists to the record label and getting top-notch content to support our song releases. We see a huge opportunity to develop robust touring infrastructure in Asia and have confirmed 6 additional shows from now through October with some of the hottest acts on the market.
The shift to Japan will take time to fully settle in, but if anything it's been a tremendously positive start - especially at a time when the crypto market seems to be going through a major identity crisis. We've always been and continue to be a long-term advocate for the space, but want to position ourselves as a team thats able to go beyond crypto for the time when onchain activity starts to heat up again.
