We are pleased to introduce DarkBattle – a web3 interactive fiction game and, the first of its kind, bridging user’s input and interaction from both web3 and web2 platforms.

The DarkBattle game is offered in two modes: Duel and Quest.

While Duel is available exclusively to CryptoMangaNFT holders to play, upgrading their shell’s EXP and compete for ETH prize. Quest is a game mode intended for the entire NFT community and will soon be available as an open source code base. Quest allows community builders to create their own interactive fictional game based on their own NFT characters. 

The Interactive Fiction (IF) game is a form of computer game or role-playing game. It is based on a simulated environment in which players can control characters and influence the environment using text commands.

DarkBattle's game design is inspired by 1980s interactive games such as Zork, where users type commands in plain text to navigate and interact with other players and components in the game. The difference is that DarkBattle does not limit users to interacting with the command terminal, but allows them to interact with the larger community through the Twitter interface while remaining user-focused. We chose this format because it is one of the most minimalistic, but still conveys and enables exciting and complex stories to unfold.

IF Gaming has a sizable market of $100-150M in 2018 with peak revenue of $9M monthly in 2020. The majority of IF exists in web2 format. This makes the connection to web3 an obvious choice as an untapped opportunity, with a only few notable players exists such as like DarkForest and Storyverse to name a few. 

Darkbattle Duel is a web3 interactive fiction game, where two CryptoManga shells can engage in battles against each other, putting their Skill and Combat EXP and special items to use. 

The game begins with one player challenges player by tweeting the command below and tagging the battle bot, @“tomobotz”. 

Once the second player accepts, the duel is engaged. 

As the game progresses, each player takes turns entering a command.

We want to ensure that the DarkBattle game ecosystem is as sustainable as possible.

The goals of participating in the games are:

• To upgrade EXP for their shells. Higher EXP shells are rarer compared to the lower EXP and they have a higher chance of winning the future battles.

• Earn $MAD Governance Utility Tokens to participate in CryptoManga Governance on Snapshot and exchange for better gears on The Workshop.

• To celebrate the launch of the game, the core team has set an ETH prize to attract new players. ETH Prizes for the launch are for three top winners of the CryptoManga Duel.

Prize 1 – $3,000 – awarded to the player with the highest combined EXP Prize 2 – $1,500 – awarded to the player with the highest number of victories Prize 3 – $500 – awarded to the player that attracts the highest audience, indicated by likes and engagements across their duel sequence.

At launch, the statistics of the battles belong to each shell can be seen in the leaderboard.
