A guide on design

A recap of 7nd session of the BRBBootcamp
Mentor  -  Zeeshan Sir

Let us start this blogpost by asking ourselves

What the hell is design?

post image

Design means... beautiful solutions.
The target of any design is meeting NEEDS with respect to the requirements. It aims to create aesthetically pleasing and amazing solutions with given data, an abstract representation of what you can think of basically.
In the session 7 of the BRBBootcamp we indulge ourselves into various aspects and terminology and tips/tricks of design.

Lets talk C.R.A.P

Contrast :

Refers to the arrangement of opposite elements to create visual interest, draw attention, and highlight important aspects of the composition.

Repetition

Refers to the consistent use of elements such as colors, shapes, textures, fonts, and patterns throughout a design.

Alignment

Refers to the arrangement of elements in a way that lines up their edges or centers along common lines or paths.

Proximity

Refers to the principle of organizing related elements close together to create visual relationships and associations.

Color Theory:

Color theory is a fundamental concept in art and design that explores how colors interact, blend, and complement each other.

The interesting curve

This was probably the best part of this session where we learned about that curve with the help of which we could identify different color components for our project.

Typography principles:

Typography principles are essential in design and communication, focusing on the arrangement, style, and appearance of text.
Well the most important part of any project is to identify the type of font that would suit the project and its users. In this section we learned about the various font simple yet efficient that we could use in our project.

Now here are the various laws we learned through this session:

Fitts Law-

Make sure buttons and important actions are large enough and within reach.
Give the user some breathing room with adequate spacing between actions.

Hick’s Law-

Limit the number of choices and minimize response time.
Break down larger flows into smaller steps.

Jacob’s Law-

Do not reinvent the wheel.
Use familiar design Patterns.

Miller’s Law-

Less is more. Categorize and divide info into bite sized chunks.

Mapping a User Flow:

Mapping a user flow in Figma is a crucial step in designing intuitive and user-friendly digital experiences. By visualizing and prototyping user journeys, you can ensure that your application meets user expectations and effectively guides them through tasks and interactions. Figma’s collaborative features and prototyping capabilities make it an ideal tool for creating and refining user flows from concept to implementation.

Design Systems:

By establishing a robust design system grounded in clear principles, modular components, and systematic documentation, you can create magic in your design and development processes. A well-implemented design system not only enhances efficiency and consistency but also empowers teams to innovate and deliver exceptional user experiences across digital products and platforms.

The Power of feedback Loops:

Feedback loops in design empower designers to create impactful and user-centered solutions by continuously refining designs based on real-world insights and user feedback. By embracing feedback as a catalyst for improvement and innovation, design processes become more collaborative, data-driven, and aligned with user expectations, ultimately leading to more successful and engaging digital experiences.

The Fundamentals of UX Research:

UX research is essential for creating intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly experiences that meet the needs and expectations of your target audience. By employing a variety of research methods, analyzing data rigorously, and iterating based on user feedback, UX professionals can design products and services that not only satisfy user needs but also drive business success through enhanced user satisfaction and loyalty.
