Introducing Studio Slowcore: a new Farcaster-native creative production studio focused on wordsmith arts and slow culture.
Studio contributors:*
Danica Swanson (founder, co-steward, channel owner, word-slinger-in-chief)
@trigs.eth (co-steward, channel mod, wordsmith, community call host)
@y0b (co-steward, channel mod, wordsmith, gift economics consultant)
In keeping with our slow culture roots, we practice:
I. stewardship
II. slowcraft
III. sustained attention
Last week (July 24, 2025) marked the first in our planned series of three Farcaster-exclusive mini-launches building toward a hybrid gift economy + business endeavor.
Our team is excited to kick off phase one of our launch on Farcaster with the revival of the /slowcore-hq channel and the introduction of a new channel: /gift-economics (kindly gifted to us by @ted).
You can also check out the Slowcore HQ and Gift Economics channels on Cura.
We think there's an untapped market in Farcaster's social economy for wordsmiths (and other service providers) who work the slowcore way: focused attention to detail, commitment to craft, and health over hustle. That's how we leave room for "slow-motion bullseyes."
In phase two we'll launch our editorial services, including copy editing, grant writing assistance, and building custom editorial style guides.
If there's significant interest and bandwidth is available, we may also consider reviving our editorial wiki project.
Further details forthcoming in late August (subject to change).
We're building digital gardens and browsing rooms that cater to the long-reads crowd. In phase three we plan to publish this work in Obsidian with both public and members-only options, including:
All writings for the FC-native journal project Deep Worth: Notes on Creativity, Labor, and Value, which spawned a thriving group chat.
Special collections of essays and highlights from Danica's former blogs and Substack newsletters (including Of Hearth and Shadow, Endarkenment, and The Anticareerist).
"Public domain art of the day" collections and moodboards.
Dark ambient + drone music playlists from Danica's Chthonic Cathedral Project.
Quote collections, AMAs, and nerd-snipe material (e.g., lecture notes).
We may also consider collecting and editing highlights from community conversations in our channels. For example, we recently posted about Ted Gioia's recent article "Why I Take Gifts Seriously," which is worthy of ongoing discussion in the gift economics channel.
Further details forthcoming in late September (subject to change).
"Slowcore" is our superpower, and we think Farcaster's nascent social Farconomy is the best place to launch a collaborative endeavor that unfolds over time based on the way we work best:
Build slowly and with appreciation for craft.
Weave our work into the network.
Observe what emerges.
Course-correct as needed until we find our groove: i.e., what Henrik Karlsson calls "form-context fit" (citing Notes on the Synthesis of Form by Christopher Alexander).
We know this unfolding will require patience, and we're here for it.
NOTE: We will NOT be launching a coin. Not for our studio. Not for ourselves as individuals. Not for our channels. So this post is not part of the new Paragraph "coin your post" mechanism.
However, direct gifts of crypto sent to the studio's multisig (slowcore.eth) will be gratefully accepted and used to fund initiatives for our channels (including retro-rewarding the gift labor done to bootstrap the channels).
We steward the channels as cozy corner communities, with intent to contribute long-term value to the Farcaster network.
We'd also love to see more Farcasters start their own gift circles and micro-gift-economy experiments.

Working on a completely fresh financial model for The Human Layer. A “Living Financial System” thats rooted in the Gift and has a structure designed to ebb and flow. Re-Reading this amazing lil gem I bought years ago and is something of a Bible for me as we barrel towards accelerated transition. Highly recommend snagging a copy.
Sounds intriguing! I'd be interested to follow your progress on this if you plan to share anything publicly. I've been thinking along similar lines (especially with the gift culture aspect). Behind the scenes I've been working with a collaborator to develop an outline of something I've been calling a "slowcore-friendly economic model," but progress has been rather slow... lol. The book sounds right up my alley. Added to my wish list.
We'll def be sharing the "protocol" as we build it. The deeper we get into structuring this living financial system, the more I can see how applicable it is for so many. We're designing it so it's easily forkable too.
Excellent. Tagging my collaborator @trigs.eth too for future reference.
The wordsmiths at Studio Slowcore have opted out of the coin-it meta, but we're excited to experiment with gift economics in Farcaster's social economy and build a Farcaster-native creative production studio. We're starting with stewardship of two cozy corner channels, /slowcore-hq and /gift-economics, with the aim of contributing long-term value to the Farcaster network. Gifts of crypto sent to the studio's multisig (slowcore.eth) will be used to fund initiatives for our channels. https://paragraph.com/@danicaswanson/introducing-studio-slowcore (This is a slightly edited version of the original cast I made last week about our launch).

yay congrats @danicaswanson 🫶🏻
Wow, you're fast! Thanks very much, Riley. 💜 Excited to see what's next.
it can feel like the farcaster writing community is so small and I see some new writer group form every other week for some reason or another. Hopefully newcomers can learn from ones like you to navigate and collaborate, feel less isolated
The FC writing community IS small, I think, but that suits us fine since we're more the cozy corner type anyway. FC is a good place to find your people but it does take time. I definitely feel fortunate to be working with @trigs.eth and @y0b!
