The path for sustainable impact starts with sustainable value.
Our vision to bring positive change can only be viable if the protocol can support itself by doing so. After finalizing the subDAOs model, we believe the most suitable approach moving forward would be to focus on impact investing and incubating ESG-related protocols that will expand our ecosystem of change.
What is ESG?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance - an assessment system that helps showcase how companies or projects are affecting the planet that they’re on, the treatment of their workers and the quality & safety of their products & services, and how the business is run from who’s running it, how ethical are its business practices and general transparency.
Environmental
Are the project’s goods and/or services polluting the air with toxins from their energy production source? Is its waste being thrown into waters or spread through the soil? Is it causing the depletion of precious natural resources? Is there harsh treatment of animals?
These are the kinds of questions that would be asked to determine how harmful what’s being looked at is, and if measures are being taken to mitigate these problems, or if the project itself is about bringing positive impact to these points, like using natural gas or nuclear energy as an energy source instead of coal or oil (decreased carbon emission), decrease deforestation, plastic reuse and more.
Social
how’s a group/company handles its internal and external business relationships? from how their workers are treated fairly and justly or not, and with decent physical and mental care, having great hygiene and good security, being non-discriminatory with employment, working with local communities and/or NGOs to help out with whatever is needed to have a positive impact, doing volunteer work, sharing/allocating profits.
Governance
This looks into the management of a group, its account, and what kind of decisions and activities are being taken. Being transparent with the financial management and reporting, clearing out a potential conflict of interest regarding those with voting/decision power, like taking in benefits which lead to corruption all around, and not dealing with any criminal activities, in or outside of the company/project.
How will $ESG be utilized?
DAO Nation would be financially sustained by various streams of revenue:
Launchpad — An ecosystem for ESG-positive dApps. DAO Nation will provide a financial and organizational infrastructure for protocols and individuals to build and promote ESG-minded projects — via incubation, funding, and collaboration.
Governance Mining (as detailed below)
An NFT marketplace where NFT artists will be able to create and sell their art in various ways with a portion of the revenue going into the treasury - contributing/raising funds to impact-related projects/causes.
DAO Nation will be managed by its implementation and use of Governance Mining, where multiple subDAOs (or working groups) would be created to satisfy a particular need that DAO would have, or need in the future, and appropriately skilled individuals would be called upon to join the group to focus on their tasks and achieve desired KPIs. The efforts and results shown by the working groups would be heavily compensated, as a decent percentage of the total supply of the DAO’s native token would be directed to Governance Mining.
All of these subDAOs would communicate with each other with the help of coordination groups, smooth out what’s needed, what was completed, any potential issues that need to be fixed, and generally try their best to keep the engine running correctly.
SubDAOs are voted in or out of existence by their members with vESG, a non-tradable token obtained by staking $ESG for a certain period of time and with anti-whale/capitalization mechanisms, and have their funds approved by the main DAO.
In order for us to bloom into sustainability, we plan to focus on value creation instead of token inflation. The treasury is a tool for utility diversification, and staking is an important part of our models to incentivize close contact, but hyper-dilution is not something we aim for. $ESG will not be like other rebase tokens.
DAO Nation with its $ESG native token would be utilized to invest in various new protocols, WEB 2.0 projects, as well as low-tech ones, all of which would need to have compliance with the DAO’s ESG criteria.
Funds would also be allocated to incubate various protocols/projects within DAO Nation, and have them as a subDAO as part of its ecosystem. Of course, members of the DAO would have the say in what project gets approved as a subDAO and receive funding.
DAO Nation’s treasury will be utilized, together with the governance mining model, in order to diversify DAO Nation socially-positive portfolio of products and services.
We haven’t deviated from our initial objective of helping out those who are in need. We continue partnering with NGOs and onboard them via its launchpad for fundraising and interacting with working groups, we just expanded on its potential to have a much stronger and bigger positive impact, to be a one-stop-shop for social impact. From investors, to builders, to those in need.
