DAO Deep Dives: A Call to Conversation

In line with our larger DAO DNA ambitions, the DAO Deep Dive series will explore the ins-and-outs of decentralized organizations through live, 45 minute segments focused on individual communities. Bringing together 3-4 contributors across various facets of the org, from core contributors, to guild leaders and members, to newly onboarded peers, each episode aims to investigate the organisation as an organism, understanding the cultures, hierarchical (or lack of) structures, and long-term visions that compose the larger DAO.

Our goal is to dive deep into some of the leading tokenized communities today, to understand and showcase feedback loops between different layers of the community onion. By using this information to try and represent the DAO as DNA — core source code and ethos designed for growth rather than a simple snapshot in time — we aim to inspire more great communities to form, and to give potential contributors a deeper understanding of the communities they’re eager to join.

SERIES STRUCTURE:

In partnership with the TwoPlus x Forefront inter-DAO working group, we’re playing with a theory around the different matrices of organization; an exploration of the patterns, memes, and community models that drive different classes of contribution. This series is a first step in refining that hypothesis, attempting to simplify the complexities of DAOs into a more intuitive, expansive framework.

The DAO Deep Dive series will catalyze conversations with the dOrgs we’re most connected to, moving outwards into less familiar terrain, serving as a supplement to the working group’s ongoing experiments around organizational health and hygiene.

Each episode will compile 3-4 community members across various scopes of the organization to help us gain perspectives that more holistically represent the community structure and process. (These categories are not fixed, but give more context to the scope of input we’re hoping to see!)

💎 Core Contributors

How do core contributors work together and parse out responsibilities between each other? What is the current state of comprehension around how their members operate? Where are the key tension points between community culture and contribution?

🧿 Guild leaders / project stewards

How do guild leaders and project stewards think about intra-DAO management? What structures are in place, if any, for contact between these members and core contributors? How are feedback loops generated within the working group or guild?

🪆 Guild / project contributors; bounty hunters

What is the general sentiment around inclusion and agency? Do contributors feel like they have access to both guild leads and core contributors? What works and what doesn’t within the organizational hierarchy and work flow processes?

🔮 Newly onboarded community members

How easy was the onboarding process? How intimate did it feel? (e.g. was it high-touch or low-fi? Did the onboarding process easily extend into cultivating connections or feeling included in culture?) How do new members think about contribution and the expectations around commitment and compensation?
