DAOportunity #1: Optimism Contribution Paths

In this inaugural edition of DAOportunity, I aim to provide valuable insights into opportunities for contributing and earning rewards by actively engaging in the development of Optimism L2. To decentralize and encourage the community to contribute to Optimism, the Optimism team has created a program called "contribution paths." Every individual involved in Optimism contribution paths will receive rewards based on their contributions during Optimism's retroactive public good funding. There are several paths that can be taken to get involved in contribution paths, and you are free to choose any path and can take more than one path according to your abilities and preferences. Each path will receive a different allocation of RPGF, depending on how many grants each path receives and how each path agrees to distribute those rewards. I will not delve into speculating further about how many rewards each path will receive in the next RPGF, but I will write about the paths that i recommend, how much contributors have earn in the previous RPGF, and a few tips to join these paths. Here are the paths I recommend:

Translator: Optimism translators are tasked with making Optimism more accessible and embracing diversity within the Optimism community. There are two main categories of translators: Crowdin translators and content translators. Click on the following link to become a Crowdin translator, https://crowdin.com/project/optimism-help-center, create a Crowdin account if you don't have one. Once you're set up, choose the language you want to translate. Check if it's already 100% translated; if not, you can start translating. To become a content translator, join the Optimism Discord, find content to translate here: https://discord.com/channels/667044843901681675/961585633334263839/961594291258527764. Check whether the content you're translating has already been translated by someone else. If not, you can start translating. After completing your translation, share the link to your translation in the Optimism Translator channel, along with the original content link. Once your translation is added to the #resources-for-everyone channel, you are officially recognized as an Optimism translator. In Optimism Round 2, each translator receive an allocation of approximately 762.07-1524.15 $OP.

Ambassador: Ambassadors are responsible for marketing and helping onboard a million users into the Optimism ecosystem through education. There are several stages to become an Optimism Ambassador, such as being active for 8 weeks on Reddit and creating educational content. Afterward, you will be nominated to become an Ambassador, voted on by the current Optimism Ambassadors and those to come. Visit this link for more detailed information on how to become an Optimism Ambassador: https://plaid-cement-e44.notion.site/Ambassador-Requirements-v1-0-f06535a2cf834142b8bbeb9d907ba79b. In RPGFF Round 2, all Ambassadors receive an allocation of 1441.91 $OP.

Support NERD: Support NERDs provide assistance on the Optimism Discord, helping users with questions and directing people in the right direction. You could say that the Support NERD's role is to act as a moderator on the Optimism Discord. Similar to Ambassadors, you need to go through several processes to become an Optimism Support NERD, starting with filling out a form, obtaining the "wannabe-nerds" role, progressing to "nerd-in-training," and so on. Here are the complete steps to becoming an Optimism NERD: https://community.optimism.io/docs/contribute/contribution-path/NERD-req/#step-1-wannabe-nerd. In RPGF Round 2, contributors receive an allocation of 1408.78-3521.95 $OP.

Here is the complete list of allocations recived by contributors in RPGF Round 2: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1mLNltubxm2YdNYDdiMZTyiFQm_yzTfrbqTp2zjH6rlk/htmlview#

There are several alternative routes available for you to participate in the Contribution Paths, such as the "tech-nerd" and "numb-nerd" paths. However, it's important to note that these paths are relatively new and will only be eligible for rewards in RPGF 3, which is currently in the project application phase and set to conclude on October 23, 2023. If you're just beginning your journey with the contribution paths now, your allocation will likely come in RPGF Round 4. For more information on Optimism RPGF, please visit the following link: https://retropgfhub.com/. If you're considering joining the Contribution Paths while reading this article, it appears that your allocation will be in RPGF Round 4, as Round 3 is already underway.

That wraps up the first edition of DAOportunity. I sincerely hope that the information I've shared proves helpful to you. If you have any questions or need guidance regarding becoming a DAO contributor, please feel free to tag me along with your questions in sgb.chat. Thank you, and happy contributing! ❤️
