I was blind, but just yesterday, I miraculously regained my sight.
I was just about to tell my parents the good news when I found a crumpled up tissue under my bed.
Written on the tissue was the message:
Don't tell them that you can see.
Chapter 1
Three months ago, I lost my sight because of a car accident.
My parents moved our family to a suburb far from the city to take better care of me.
Just last night, I miraculously regained my eyesight.
I was just about to tell my parents the good news when I suddenly found a ball of tissue paper under my bed.
I have a strong sense of cleanliness, so I took it out.
The words on the tissue made me frown.
Don't tell them that you can see.
The handwriting on the tissue was crooked, as if someone had written it in a great hurry.
There was no one else here, and this "they" obviously meant my parents.
I don't even know who put this tissue under my bed.
For three months, the only people who have come to my room are my parents and my husband Eric.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
"Rina, mom made some soup." My mother's kind voice sounded from behind the door.
I casually threw the paper towel into the trash.
But when I opened the door, my pupils snapped open.
I saw a strange woman standing in the doorway with a bowl, looking at me with a smile.
Her lips were painted bright red, and the smile on her face looked so strange.
This was clearly not my mother!
I jerked back a step and looked at her with a shocked face.
My mother looked kindly, but this woman looked very shrewd, and her features did not bear the slightest resemblance to my mother.
But the strangest thing was that her voice was exactly the same as my mother's.
I was just about to question who she was when I suddenly remembered what I had just said on the tissue paper.
I can't let them find out, I can see.
"Rina, what's wrong? Is something wrong?" The woman took a worried step closer to me.
"Mom, just leave the soup here, I'll eat it later. I said slowly as I fumbled to sit on the bed.
"Rina, soup is too hot, it's better to feed you." The woman said.
I immediately refused the woman: "Mom, I'm a little sleepy, I want to take a nap, I'll eat it when it's colder."
The woman nodded her head and went out without saying anything.
The moment she closed the door, I breathed a sigh of relief.
My back was already completely wet with cold sweat.
Where the hell had my real mother gone? And who was this woman?
I was really worried about my mother, so I opened the door and walked out.
I walked out of the room, and it was the first time I saw where I lived.
A spacious two-story villa.
I stood on the second floor and saw a man sitting on the sofa in the living room with his back to me reading the newspaper.
This man must be my father.
I looked around to make sure the woman was not in the living room, and then I lowered my voice and shouted, "Dad!"
The man turned his head and I saw his face.
At that moment, fear swept through my body.
It was not the face of my father that I knew so well, but a face that was completely unfamiliar.
"Rina, what's wrong?"
But from that man's mouth came the voice of my father.
I gave an ugly, unreadable smile, "Nothing, Dad.
The woman's head peeked out of the room beside me, her bright red lips smiling extravagantly.
"Rina, didn't you say you were going to take a nap?"
Chapter 2
"Mom, I'm not sleepy anymore." I said with a smile.
"Then mom will feed you soup."
The woman brought out the soup from the room and fed it to me, one bite at a time.
I was very nervous, afraid that the woman would see that I could see.
But luckily the woman did not notice that I was different.
The sweet soup tasted like wax in my mouth, and I didn't know if the woman had added anything to it.
"What's wrong, Rina, you look terrible and you're sweating all the time." The woman still noticed that something was wrong with me.
She approached me with concern, but her eyes were looking straight into mine.
Her eyes are very large, but they have a lot of whites and small pupils.
"I'm fine, I just don't know exactly when my eyes will recover." I said pretending to be lost.
The woman smiled, "Rina, don't worry, you'll be fine."
I gave a very ugly and stiff smile, and the woman stroked my head very lovingly.
When I returned to my room, I immediately unlocked the door and sat down on the bed with a look of fear.
Half a month ago, my husband Eric had come to visit me once.
My husband is a captain and he has a very busy schedule.
At that time, he had a good talk with my parents and even got drunk by my father and spent the night in the villa.
That means that half a month ago, my parents were my real parents.
I found my phone, which had been in voice mode when I couldn't see it before.
I immediately made a call to Eric.
The call was quickly answered.
Eric's voice was as gentle as ever: "Rina, what's wrong? I just got off the plane. I can come see you."
"Eric, what I'm going to tell you next may seem unbelievable, but what I'm saying is true." I said in an urgent tone.
Eric was silent for a moment and immediately said, "Rina, I'll believe whatever you say, no matter what it is.
I told Eric everything.
Eric: "Rina, I'm coming over right now."
It took about an hour to drive from the airport to here.
The thought of Eric coming over gave me a lot of peace of mind.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door outside the house.
"Rina, it's time to take your medicine."
My father's voice sounded outside.
But I knew it wasn't my father, but the strange man.
My heart was racing and I stare at the door.
When I didn't make a sound for a long time, the man started to turn the door handle.
"If you don't take your medicine, your eyes won't heal," the man urged me to open the door.
I was determined not to open the door anyway unless Eric came over.
"Asleep? The little guy."
The man laughed helplessly, and then I heard his footsteps coming down the stairs.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, I felt something was wrong again.
I had a strong feeling of being watched.
I walked uncomfortably to the door and listened for movement outside.
There was no sound outside the door.
It sounded like the man had gone.
I was unsure, and carefully lay down again to see what was going on outside through the doorway.
And at that moment, I met a pair of eyes that were small, but had a lot of whites.
The man was lying under the doorway, his gaze was rigidly fixed ahead.
Chapter 3
At that moment, I was covered with cold sweat.
I pretended not to see it and slowly felt around on the ground: "Where is it? My phone was clearly dropped here."
The pair of eyes disappeared from the slit.
I sat down on the floor at once, gasping for air.
They were strange.
This creepy man and woman appeared beside me, surely with an ulterior motive.
I didn't know where the hell my parents had gone, and now the only thing I could do was wait for Eric to arrive.
After an hour of torturous waiting, Eric's call finally came.
Eric's voice on the other end of the line sounded very anxious: "Rina, where are you now?"
Eric's words made me feel very strange.
"The villa, you've been here before, remember? Don't tell me you find the wrong place." I was also anxious.
"I was in the villa, but there was no one here. It's dusty, as if no one has lived here for a long time." Eric said in a very puzzled manner.
I was equally horrified by his words.
Eric also sent me a photo.
When I looked at the photo, I saw that it was indeed in the villa.
But it was really as Eric said, the villa was full of dust, it looked like no one had lived there for a long time.
The sofa was covered with a thick layer of dust and the corners even had a layer of cobwebs.
This is clearly not the same as the villa I am in now.
But the layout, was exactly the same as the villa I was in.
I suddenly thought of the man who had put a newspaper on the table and asked Eric to take a picture of it for me.
The photo came quickly.
In the photo, there was indeed a newspaper on the table, and judging from the time, it was today's newspaper.
My heart was beating very hard, and the hand holding the phone was trembling uncontrollably.
"Eric, I'm in the villa, if you don't believe me I can video you, what the hell is going on? Am I still alive?"
In this moment, I almost broke down and cried.
Eric: "Oh honey, don't cry, I absolutely believe you. Don't say anything stupid, I've already called the police, don't be afraid."
"Listen to me now, though I don't know exactly what's going on, don't let them find out that you can see until the police arrive."
"I don't know what they are pretending to be your mom and dad for, but they shouldn't hurt you yet, as long as you don't reveal any flaws."
"How much charge do you have left on your phone, I need you to stay on the line with me."
I looked at the battery level of my phone.
I'm not in the habit of recharging before bed, so I only have about 15 percent left.
This amount of power will not last long.
I hurriedly went to look for the charging cable.
But strangely, I went through the whole room and couldn't find the charging cable.
I suddenly remembered that last night when I didn't know my parents were fake, I had talked to the man and woman at the dinner table.
At that time I was listening to a novel while my phone was charging.
The charging cable must have been left there.
"The charging cable is downstairs, I'll go get it."
Looking out the door, I gritted my teeth, twisted the door open, and went out.
The hallway was quiet, and it looked like the man and woman were in my parents' room.
I quickly walked downstairs and came inside the dining room and saw that the charging cable was indeed there.
I was so happy that I was just about to unplug the charging cable when I felt something strange behind me.
I turned my head and was confronted with an expressionless face.
The woman's face was very close to mine, and the corners of her mouth were in an exaggerated curve.
"Rina, I just noticed that you are walking up the stairs much faster than before, are you able to see?
Chapter 4
Fear rose from the bottom of my feet to the top of my head in this moment.
My heart was pounding extra hard.
The woman's wide-eyed stared into mine.
"Mom! I'll talk to you when I can see, but I'm in a hurry because my phone is dead."
"I've been living here for over three months now, so of course I can walk fast." I said very naturally.
The woman smiled, stretched out her scarlet nail polish hands and touched my face.
Her fingers were as cold as snake skin, and I couldn't help but shiver.
"I thought Rina could see, mom was happy for nothing."
"If Rina can see, don't hide it from Dad and Mom, or we'll feel a little unhappy."
"Come on, give your phone to mommy, mommy will charge it for you."
The woman took my phone, and she glanced down at my phone.
"You're still on the phone with Eric."
I was nervous as hell.
Eric's voice came from the other end of the phone, "Mom, I spent too little time with Rina before, this time I took 14 days off to come back and accompany Rina."
The woman smiled: "You hurry over, let your father make your favorite roast pork, Rina missed you so much, the phone I'll hang up for Rina first. It's too unsafe to answer the phone by charging."
Her voice and tone sounded like a good mother who loves her daughter very much.
But only I knew that she looked like she was staring at the phone, but her eyes were squinting at me.
