Let’s explore DeFi today. As many of you know, I am a self-identified Defi Zen. In the traditional meaning, a Zen is a Japanese Spiritual Guru who believes and practices the inner depth of life and living at the present moment philosophy, rather than following mere religious rituals. As a Defi Zen I live, practice and spread the love for the “Everything Defi” philosophy.

Okay, I understand it’s a little bit exaggerating, everything can’t be decentralized in literal meaning, but there are quite a few things in this man-made world, that can be and should be converted to become decentralized without a doubt.

Whereas, like many or perhaps not many but like a few of us - I started my journey into the decentralized world in late 2013 with the help of another ZEN of Distribution Network - Satoshi Nakamoto. During those days, I had no idea what was going on inside out, though I became a devoted disciple of Decentralization almost immediately after my initiation to the world of Bitcoin. Time flies faster than you imagine. It did. Then, another champ came up with some more mind-boggling staff. You guess that right. I am talking about that thin-tall- shy- brainy hunk, Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum evolved from a little stepbrother of bitcoin into a well-built, strong, mighty ruler of the future. Rest is history, as they say.

Many of you already know many things by now about decentralization, distribution network, open source, blockchain, crypto, BTC, ETH, Doge, Ransomeware, Market Collapse… end of crypto, end of life… blah blah blah. Plus multiple inputs from Breaking News on old school CNBC, and Bloomberg to inspiring videos on Youtube, hundreds of Blogs and thousands of Twitter threads, uncountable Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp channels and Whatnot!

Everywhere you go, you get invited nowadays to a Crypto Buffet.

It was (and still is) an exciting time to be in the world of Blockchain, Crypto, Decentralization and on top of these all, my personal favourite - DeFi.

Unfortunately, even after a decade, I have found that it takes a long time to understand the beauty of this decentralized world for a majority of everyday friends, and friends of friends and their friends or for the everyday workout mate or the gym instructor or the neighbourhood’s supermarket owner or the budding novelist in her 20’s and her bother a future-pro-soccer star.

Every example I have cited above is of someone I personally know, and perhaps some of you know them too, or maybe you are one among them. No worries, no barriers for anyone to enter this wonderful land of decentralization. You are welcome and I am honoured that we will get a chance to deep dive together into this wonderland. And by the end of the last day of this series, we all will be better equipped to go our independent ways along the path of decentralization.

Again, I must warn you, if you want to learn the technical know-how of DeFi, this is not for you. You can check my or my many other colleague’s resources, research papers or academic and business case studies for that. Most of those are available freely on the internet. Give yourself a good search.

This series is going to be entirely on REAL LIFE USEFULNESS of Defi and how all of us can participate in this ecosystem. The topic of  focus itself is of huge challenge on me. I do not have a concrete idea right now how far and how well I can go with a strictly “No Technical Jurgon Defi Series”. It is often tempting and much easier to explain a highly technical system using relevant technical terms and techniques. In the past, we tried that method extensively enough and most of those sound gibberish to everyday folks. We all are everyday folks outside our own field of expertise. Everyone must not need to know how to make a car, but with the right tools and training, almost anyone can drive a car in today’s date.

I have observed that the majority of people in this world don't really understand finance or money as per se. Yet finance or money is the only common thing that almost every individual who has come to this world as a human must have interacted in a daily basis to continue a so-called normal living. Had we or our current financial-ecosystem designing forefathers taught us about finance as we practice in the real world, there would have been a fair chance that no one would have gone bankrupt or even died in poverty in this world ever because of the dearth of financial knowledge. I do not try to claim that we can eradicate poverty from this world by learning and practicing DeFi or any such decentralized methods. No, we may not, but I am sure there can be a better-off opportunity for almost anyone to meet their needs with ease and dignity, provided they gain the proper knowledge of something that suits their individual tests to choose a particular set of vocational or creative skills.

We will see during this series how can we do that and make a difference in our and someone else’s life as well.

I will try to introduce and bring on board one of my friends from another end of the world to tell you his story on how he could afford to run his new fatherhood obligations with the help of Defi, staying in an extremely poverty-hit interior village of Indonesia. I met him during the beta testing stage of one of our earliest Defi Platforms in the ecosystem that I was associated with - it is a heart-touching real-life experience.  More on this later.

Though my focus will be on Defi, I will touch few other related topics if and when the demand for such topics arises.
