Amazon documentdb is designed for 99.99% high availability. It uses Amazon cloud technology’s availability zone technology to replicate six copies of data in three availability zones. Users can also use Amazon database migration service (Amazon DMS) to easily migrate local or Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) mongodb databases to Amazon documentdb without downtime.

Amazon documentdb can automatically expand storage and easily meet the future growth needs of users. Amazon documentdb separates storage and computing, and the two can be expanded separately. Users can add up to 15 low latency read-only copies to three free zones in a few minutes, easily spreading the read capacity to millions of requests per second. Amazon documentdb adopts a distributed, fault-tolerant and self-healing storage system to automatically expand each database cluster to a maximum of 64tb.
