Tornado Cash developer Alex Pertsev tweeted on Friday after his release from a Dutch prison, "Sorry I was away for a while, what did I miss?" Pertsev was arrested in August 2022 when the U.S. government sanctioned Tornado Cash. He was released from prison on April 26 and will await trial at home with an ankle monitor. Pertsev's arrest and subsequent incarceration drew some criticism, with some arguing that Pertsev should not be punished for developing open source code.
