C114 - March 7 (Yu Yu) - according to mobile world live, Ilana wisby, CEO of Oxford quantum circuits (OQC), a leading European quantum computing as a service company, said that quantum computing has made incredible progress in the past 12 months, but there is still a lot of work to do to make it mainstream.
Wisby told mobile world live in an interview before the meeting on Thursday that quantum computing was at least “definitely beyond the research and development stage”.
“We are probably at the best of times for anyone who wants to influence and shape the quantum future,” she said, “The performance of the system has also improved significantly, which shows the reality that quantum technology will one day provide. The market pattern is changing rapidly with the emergence of mergers and acquisitions, spac (Special Purpose Acquisition company) and new companies at an incredible rate.”
Wisby claimed that OQC was “one of the pioneers leading to general-purpose quantum computers”.
“In July 2021, we launched Sophia, the most advanced quantum computer in Europe. A few days ago, we launched our latest system Lucy on Amazon bracket. Quantum computing as a service - qcaas - has now become a reality on the African continent.” Ilana wisby said.
Amazon bracket is a fully hosted quantum computing service from Amazon Web services (AWS).
“OQC is the first European provider to provide quantum hardware access on AWS,” wisby said. “We are opening up a new field and opening up a new vision for quantum technology in Europe. Now anyone can access Lucy, enabling enterprises to simplify operations and improve performance.”
Although wisby points out that financial and banking institutions have been early adopters of quantum computing, “in the long run, all industries will be affected. From pharmaceutical companies using quantum technology to identify new molecules to aviation using quantum technology to discover new materials, the impact of quantum technology will change the rules of the game,” she said.
Wisby concluded: “although we cannot predict the exact consequences of quantum, we know that its results will be revolutionary, far-reaching and very profitable for some people. Some forecasts believe that the market value will reach $19 billion by 2030.”
