MetalCore is a first person mech shooter with NFT economy built in Polygon’s Blockchain. This blockchain based game is developed by MetalCore Foundation, an award-winning veteran team of game developers and designers. Some of their team members have expertise in working with popular titles like Mortal Kombat, Fallout, Elder Scrolls etc. The development of this project is also in conjunction with Studio 369. MetalCore’s blockchain & NFT-based design and development will be handled by Umbrella Network, which can bring extensive experience in blockchain development and data management.
This project has also secured partnerships with Animoca Brands, Youbi Capital and several other affiliates that can help cover operations. Meanwhile, large, and well-known guilds are also invested like Merit Circle and YGG SEA. The MetalCore Foundation and Studio 369 released its debut trailer last November 2, 2021. Currently, MetalCore has done its presale stage last July and it will open its doors to players for the alpha test gameplay on Q3 2022 based on their roadmap at the time of this writing.
MetalCore is an open world mech shooter game set in a dystopian future powered by towering mechs, armored tanks, and high-flying jets fighting for dominance in large-scale battles. The civil war across the solar empire has left the Earth polluted into ruin, some people have escaped to a distant planet called “Kerberos” where endless war has emerged on who will dominate and control its metal-rich environment. Therefore, the primary objective in MetalCore is to defeat opponents in a struggle for territory while operating heavy machinery in a first-person shooter style.
The player will first undergo Player vs. Environment mode to learn the basics and then once the player levels up, he can now engage in massive faction wars (PvP). Players of this game can enjoy cooperative PvE and large-scale 100 player battle PvP. The player can also join factions like Metal Punks, Gearbreakers and The Holy Corporation. If the player’s faction wins in a battle with each other, they gain passive bonuses.
Since MetalCore is built with an NFT economy, it means that every pilot, mech, weapon and blueprint is an NFT that the player can own and possibly sell to others. As of the time of writing, there is no information about the tokenomics of the project since the full whitepaper will be released to the community at a later date. But overall, it can be inferred that as the player progresses through the game, they would earn rewards in PvP and PvE battles.
If the player doesn’t like to compete with others in PvE or PvP mode, then the player can just be a Baron where the player will acquire land to mine for resources and loan out their mechs to other players for passive rewards. Additionally, users may create vehicles in their garage to use or exchange with other players.
MetalCore can be massively adopted not only by P2E gamers but also traditional gamers because the story behind the gameplay promises a lot. Looking at the gameplay trailer, it looks like it’s going to be AAA game with modern 3D graphics. I just hope that the cutscenes in the trailer will be consistent once the game goes live.
I expect that the game will offer players dynamic online PvP and nonstop shooting action while having intuitive controls that will be appreciated by novices and hardcore gamers alike. Moreover, I hope that the game wouldn’t require a high-end rig to run on buttery smooth 100+ FPS gameplay, so it will be accessible to a lot more people.
MetalCore appears to be developed by a reliable and capable team that welcomes inquiries. However, my concern is that although their profile on their website connects their team’s LinkedIn, none of them were verified. There is a risk that unverified members are not actually members of the team. Moreover, since there is no information about the tokenomics of the game, we weren’t sure how the economy will play out hence there is a risk in investing. So only invest what you can afford to lose.
No game is complete without story progression, so even though this project is still in the early stage of its development, there is already a lore written. It's proof that this is not a game of only “point and shoot” but will be much more. MetalCore foundation is working in progress to give players a simulation of what living in an alien world would be like while fighting the right for dominance. If you’re like me who’s intrigued by what the gameplay will actually look like once it’s live then stay tuned! Together let’s find out if MetalCore will be able to make their players lose themselves in an epic mech combat in Kerberos.
