Ecofrontiers — End of Year Review 2025
Ecofrontiers continued in 2025 as a research and consulting agency operating at the intersection of Web3 and impact. This year marked a transition from exploration to consolidation: Across research, consulting, and public-interest infrastructure, we worked with an expanding network of builders, institutions, and educators to advance credible, system-level approaches to green crypto. Ecofrontiers continues to grow as an agency for research and advocacy at the intersection of tokenized natural capital and decentralized technologies. This year again, we broadened our impact and collaborated with a remarkable network of partners to advance green crypto innovation.

Our biggest this year was the successful spin-out of Regen Atlas, a green cryptomarketplace. Initially incubated within Ecofrontiers, Regen Atlas now operates as an independent initiative, bringing transparency and accessibility to tokenized green assets. Our co-founder Louise Borreani presented the project at EthCC in Brussels this summer.

Moving towards 2025, we are closely collaborating with the other founding team members, Christoph Wünsche and Pawel Janicki, as well as an expanding contributor team. Our research goal is to continue to improve the quantity and quality of green token listings by onboarding additional ecosystems. Beyond this, we are developing a go-to-market strategy, and working on product monetization.

Green Crypto Handbook Progress: Initially thought of as an industry report, New Frontiers in Eco-Capitalism: Public Architectures for the Production of Natural Capital evolved into The Green Crypto Handbook. We’ve made considerable progress, with nearly 300 manuscript pages of writing completed and an estimated publishing date in 2025. In the book, we discuss a multi-layered framework that encompasses those material and conceptual layers that relate to the collective production of green crypto. This year, we published two new sample chapters, each focused on a specific layer of Web3’s Environmental Finance Stack: the Market and Protocol layers.
French Edition of the Asset Chapter: We published a French version of the Asset Chapter from the Green Crypto Handbook, making our research accessible to a broader audience.

Workshops with Giga: Giga is an UNICEF-ITU initiative to bring every school in the world online. This summer, we co-designed in a workshop format a decentralized finance mechanism that could accelerate their mission-driven work by up to 20 years. Together, we tested feasibility assumptions, mapped key stakeholders, and summarized design tradeoffs.
Intervention at Le Lab (Bank of France): We shared insights and mechanism design practices for green crypto-assets, fostering dialogue with key financial stakeholders in the French financial ecosystem.
Throughout the whole year, we continued to advise impactful projects, such as AsteriskDAO, which is making strides in building decentralized data lakes for non-reproductive women’s health data—a crucial and underfunded area requiring DeSci innovation. Alternatively, we’ve been in close advisor relation with the Inverter Network team, co-developing use cases for blockchain in the real world.
Impact Blockchain Conference @ EthCC Brussels: Once again, we were honored to be invited to discuss climate, environment and crypto alongside SNI, Erable, Carbonable, KlimaDAO, with Pierre Noro as facilitator. You can listen to Louise Borreani's intervention as a podcast.
Our primary focus for 2025 is completing the Green Crypto Handbook, a comprehensive guide detailing the production processes for tokenized natural capital. With several sample chapters already live on our blog, we aim to deliver the printed book in full!
We’ll keep advising transformative projects and engaging in high-impact collaborations to advance the field of green crypto.
