Light and dark do balance each other and while because of generational propaganda dark has been demonized, the light can be just as unforgiving if not more cruel than what the shadows hide sometimes.
The darkness is just an allegory for the unknown, humanity's greatest fear which we are cursed with insatiable curiosity to constantly confront.
While there are horrors beyond comprehension in the unknown, there is also in the shadows the most vulnerable precious parts. They hide there not because of what is in the shadows with them. They hide because of the monsters that walk in broad light and everyone just defacto accepts as good and non-malevonent because they don't hide.
In ecology, predators sneak and hide in the hunt but they also are afforded the luxury to just travel freely even in the light most places because rarely they are the hunted. Prey however hides in the shadows continuously. However, would you demonize a bunnies for generations to learn how to outwit the fox so it's not eaten? Or demonize the fox for just wanting a meal? No, they both just are ~ just like light and dark are both just exist and our own morality, values, ego all of it are reflected back to us.
So yes, the dialogue between light and dark has endured as long as existance has endured and will continue to endure and evolve finding balance without stagnation through eternity.

“ generational propaganda dark has been demonized, the light can be just as unforgiving if not more cruel than what the shadows hide sometimes.” Yes! Like how the intense heat of the sun can become a stark desert! I think about this often in the context of early humans because if you think about it, we have not had electricity for that long and it used to be scary. Things happened in the night. For centuries we have as humans been making up stories about what we are not able to see And demonizing the unknown to create a (however false) safety in the light. And yet, it’s just some more green grass, also hiding snakes to chase and bite us. Hahahaha.
i think though there always has been a subset of the population that is noctural or diaurnal tho, like how rembrandt painted the night watch? where it's like there are those of us who maybe still fear the dark but naturally are more attune to it because we have higher perceptions. This I think is an evolutionary thing like we would guard our tribes/village/town at night from predators - animal, human or otherwise - ensuring their safety, and in return we got to sleep safely during the day and be tended to for our service (I use our cause I'm noctural and feel like this a lot lol)
I just wrote a remix on @maxximillian 's art and writing just going further into the random thoughts it brought up for me and loving the remix feature so much already haha My other thing is paragraph discoverability is still hard and it would be nice if there was a way to search keywords or browse categories besides whats popular. With improved browsing and this remix feature I could see myself spending most my day in paragraph, zora and rodeo over anywhere else I think. https://paragraph.com/@empresstrash/in-the-shadows
