Hello World

Over the last couple months the team at Ethergrams has been toiling to bring to life the idea that was in our heads. The concept started simply, an NFT birthday card that can be sent to friends, anywhere in the world, easily. It is a showing of affection, that was far easier than trying to find a perfect gift only to also try to figure out how to send it. The idea was to sent and NFT that was loadable, and didn’t cost thousands, or even hundreds, of dollars, or ether.

The project’s secondary goal was to make something interesting and useful in the cryptocurrency space, but also something fun and exciting for, well, people! We have recently deployed a very small part of that vision, and would like to share it with everyone. We have a small MVP dApp deployed on the Base testnet and are really excited that, one it works, and two that it is a thing. Yay, we made a thing! And it works!! Somewhat. We’d love for people to come by the site and try it out, break it, and tell us so we can fix it. It is rather fragile at the moment, so don’t expect fireworks, but it does the initial things we wanted it to do, make available Ethergrams for users to buy and send to their friends.

In future posts we’ll go into more detail about what Ethergrams are, how they are built, what you can do with them, and what we have planned for the future. But for now we just wanted to say, Hello World. We’d encourage all interested to jump into our discord, get some testnet PAY tokens and try out the dApp. We welcome the constructive comments and suggestions. The feature set is limited at the moment, but you can:

  • log in with Coinbase Wallet or Metamask

  • Approve the Payment Tokens for the platform

  • Purchase listed Ethergrams

  • Load ‘em with Payment tokens

  • Send ‘em to Ethereum addresses on the Base testnet

  • And create ‘em

Also to note, Ethergrams are just digital representations of affection that can be sent to Ethereum wallet addresses. They can be loaded with ERC20 tokens, but that is about it. They aren’t designed to be traded for profit; there are no utility tokens, platform rewards, no pyramid marketing schemes. They are just affordable greeting cards to send to friends. However, we do invite creatives to participate by adding their talent to the catalog of cards, while splitting the sales.

We are still working on some future features like email notifications, and sending to users that don’t yet have an Ethereum wallet address. In the mean time, please stop by and say hello! Buy some cards, load them up, and send them to friends, or frenemies!
