In the distant crypto-past of 2018, an innovative project made it possible for NFTs to own other NFTs.
The folks from KittyHats, purveyors of accessories for the CryptoKitties, and DADA, the collaborative art platform and creator of NFTs since 2017, got together to make sure that CryptoKitties could also collect art.

But how can one NFT own another NFT? The innovation is that instead of the contract recording a wallet address as the owner, it records a token id, in this case a CryptoKitty token id.
Back then, you could see your CryptoKitty and all the NFTs it owned in the KittyHats platform, but their website is not available anymore. However, those NFTs and their cat owners still remain safely in the blockchain records, and we hope to get them back to the public view. It is fun and it’s also part of the history of innovation and collaboration of early NFTs.
The KittyDADAO is buying some of those currently invisible artworks to be held by our multi-sig. Our goal is to make them visible again. We also want to see many more art collector kitties out there!
It’s been 5 years since this project was announced and it’s time to bring it back.
As the owner of an art collector kitty you are an honorary member of our DAO. Help us decide the best way to accomplish our goal of having the kitty owned art NFTs visible again. At the end of this post there is a list of all the CryptoKitties owning a DADA artwork as of March 1st 2023.
We will be publishing instructions on how to interact directly with the smart contracts and buy artwork with your CryptoKitty.
