15 May, 15 May, news from Windows Latest, Microsoft recently replaced weather UWP application with Web-based MSN.com weather web pages.
PWA (IT House Note: Progressive Web App, Progressive Web Applications) is less applied than traditional desktops or UWP and less widely required, and is increasingly welcome as a result of its effective use. However, switching to PWA has led to advertisements and a marked decline in performance across the weather.
After the update, previously unadvertised weather clients began to show advertisements, which affected free users and Microsoft 365 subscribers. Users were unable to accept “advertisements” in applications such as weather, and many users expressed outrage at feedback centres.
In response to feedback from the social media and their feedback platforms on the paving of land, Microsoft has decided to withdraw changes from the weather application home page.
This means that users will no longer face advertisements when visiting the home page for weather applications. However, in the testing, advertisements continue to appear on Windows 11 other weather pages, such as forecasts and livelihoods (health and safety dashboard).
According to sources, these advertisements will appear in all versions of Windows weather applications, including Windows 11 and Windows 10 platforms. Information sources also indicated that these advertisements will be based on interest, which means that users’ MSN historical record cookie will be used to show individualized advertising.
