Introduction
The question about if cryptocurrency can ever be environmentally friendly has been a much debated topic lately. Especially coming from crypto critics.
Some of these critics are of the opinion that cryptocurrency activities and some other blockchains easily equals the Energy consumption of whole countries. Some also believe the crypto boom poses a problem as it makes the world tight timeline to reach net-zero emissions impossible.
The Crypto Climate Accord (CCA) sets out to change that. How? By encouraging signatories to decarbonize and achieve net-zero emissions as soon as possible.
We at GinGr are in support of the mission of Crypto Climate Accord. To this effect, we joined the leading entities within and outside the crypto space to be a signatory to the CCA mission. As a signatory we have shown our commitment to making sure we also reach net-zero emissions from electricity consumption.
We will be working with other signatories to push forward this groundbreaking leap to an achievable collective objective.
About the Crypto Climate Accord
Inspired by the Paris Agreement of 2015, the CCA aims to decarbonize crypto by powering blockchain with 100% renewable energy.
The initiative is led by three non-profit companies — the Rocky Mountain Institute, the Energy Web Foundation, and the Alliance for Innovative Regulation. The first two are non-profits focused on sustainability and transition to low-carbon footprints, while the Alliance for Innovative Regulation is an international advocacy group that speaks for the implementation of fair financial systems.
The Crypto Climate Accord’s overall objective is to decarbonize the global crypto industry by prioritizing climate stewardship and supporting the entire crypto industry’s transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
