Aisha is skilled across many aspects of 3D— extending well beyond just digital fashion, to architectural designer and also avatar development and animation, where she even has her very own GMS digi model, Awelewa! She is currently a student, completing a masters degree in architecture, which has high affinity to so many of the knowledge and design practices that she uses to produce and bring her unique NFTs to market. She’s an inspirational member of the community and someone who’s always open to embracing the unknown, even if that might be a bit scary at first!

I was born and raised in Ibadan, Nigeria, where I always had a strong inclination for gaining new knowledge that could help me improve my skills across a broad range of diverse areas, just like what I am doing at the moment with diving into NFTs and web3.

Right now, I am still a student, studying to complete my master’s degree in architecture. Studying architecture has made realize how much I really love 3D, and how it’s always been my “happy place”. The classes require me to use a lot of 3D softwares like CAD, and I find that even now I am still hungry to improve my design skills, transferring a lot of what I learn from my architectural classes into my digital fashion NFT designs and more.

My journey into fashion started after I left high school. I remember telling my mum that I wanted to enhance my skills in the arts whilst awaiting my admission confirmation into university. We both concluded on fashion design.

From there, I learnt the art of tailoring from a traditional tailor in Ibadan where I spent 6 months honing my craft before resuming back to school. I wasn’t so good at making clothes in this initial stage and so went back to learn more for a number of months when school break commenced that same year. Every other facet of tailoring that I know has been entirely self taught, with the help of Youtube.

It wasn’t until May 2020 that I began to learn digital fashion more specifically. Here, the combination of my knowledge in physical fashion design and architecture helped me tremendously. Architecture helped me with the navigation of the softwares, being already quite familiar with native architectural modelling software, and my IRL garment creation skills helped with great pattern making in CLO3d. I was even an intern for a while for a digital fashion designer that I met on Twitter. They passed on extensive first hand knowledge and tips to me, which was pretty surreal, given that so much of the fashion industry culture as we’ve known it is closed off and “fake friendly”.

There has been a lot of learning, re-learning and freelance works in between, till I came across the DIGITALAX platform mid last year. It’s been a great and awesome experience with this community. Everyone keeps uplifting and helping themselves out. I am so glad I found this community and I look forward to what web3 has in store for me and my skills next!
