Let’s talk about airdrops.

You may have recently heard about netizens receiving airdrops of Jito in the 4 or even 5 figure range!

If you’ve made it to this corner of web3, chances are, you know what an airdrop is. But if not, here’s a quick rundown:

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/airdrop-cryptocurrency.asp

Thanks to the power of FOMO, I went through over a dozen in-depth airdrop campaigns this past weekend - in this post, I’m going to share some info about which ones I think are most promising, as well as some underlying assets you can pick along the way.

I’m going to spell out the steps to completion with as little complexity as possible - and I’ll report back in on my own results!

First, a few truly important disclaimers:

  • This may not be for the faint of heart, despite my best efforts, some may still find these to be difficult.

  • There is no guarantee you’ll get anything - zero. None. I’ve picked out the ones I think possess the greatest chance of hitting, but the actual probabilities are, of course, unknown.

  • Tokens on brand new chains/L2s pose unique risks of loss. DYOR, and absolutely trulyNOT financial advice!- you should do all of your usual due diligence, if not more.

Protip: I really like Quick Intel for checking the safety of token projects:

http://www.quickintel.io

My personal favorite token scanner by far, QuickIntel plays nice with 95% of the scans I’ve thrown at it. There’s even a native iOS app:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quick-intel/id6454298521

It’s mostly free to use, with premium tiers available either by paying with fiat (via Stripe) or by holding $QKNTL on Arbitrum. Team is great, community is solid - I’m currently paying in fiat, but may shift years to hold the token depending upon the chart.

If you scrolled past the disclaimers at the top, you need to go back and read them, please.

This will be released in multiple parts - today, we’re going to focus on StarkNet, Braavos Wallet, LayerSwap, & JediSwap - 4 birds, one stone.

Otherwise … let’s dive in!

Airdrop Szn - an Overview:

post image

Recent announcements from several venerable blockchain / web3 companies promise substantial airdrops… of these, I’m focused on:

  1. StarkNet

  2. zkSync Era

  3. Linea

  4. Scroll

— I think these four have the greatest likelihood of users receiving actual meaningful airdrops.

Additionally, several DEXs - chiefly, those that support these new chains/L2s - have a medium to high likelihood of disbursing some tokens, including:

  1. JediSwap

  2. SyncSwap

  3. LayerSwap

As a bonus, there are a couple of wallets that we’ll interact with along the way that have a fairly low (but non zero) chance of airdrop. These include:

  1. Zerion (for zkSync, Linea, & Scroll - but, honestly, you should be using anyway lol)

  2. Braavos (for StarkNet)

  3. Glow (for Solana)

Here they are, for reference:

https://braavos.app

https://glow.app

US users, you may encounter georestrictions - I’ve gone out of my way to exclude airdrops that require interaction with dApps that have more strictly enforced region blocking (Jito, Zeta Market) - but you’re welcome to explore those yourself.

If regional issues pop up while chasing these specific airdrops, I personally recommend (but also I don’t advocate breaking TOS 😉) ProtonVPN (free) set to Netherlands. please note that if you violate regional TOS terms, you’re doing so at your own risk!

**Lastly - this guide assumes you’re using Zerion as your main wallet; I’m very happy with Zerion 95% of the time, and it will support Linea, Scroll, & zkSync Era without issue. **

(If Linea, Scroll, zkSync, etc., don’t pop up as network options for you, you can go to Chainlist and get the info needed to add any of them as custom networks — if you have questions about this [or anything else] put them in the chat!)

Today, we’re going to focus on StarkNet & the broader ecosystem associated with SN.

StarkNet ecosystem is pretty substantial, despite being relatively new (mainnet launched \~13 months ago)

What is StarkNet?

Starknet is a decentralized layer-2 network that enables Ethereum to scale securely and dapps to achieve unlimited scale for transactions and computation

Starting Your StarkNet Airdrop Adventure:

Difficulty: Medium

Cost: $6-15 USD (fees, swaps, bridging, token buys)

Time: 10-30 minutes (depends upon network traffic, device, and more)

Braavos - my preferred choice for StarkNet.
Braavos - my preferred choice for StarkNet.
  • Download Braavos Wallet (there are others, Bravos seems easiest - linked above!)

  • Setup & deploy smart wallet inside of Braavos

  • Use LayerSwap (or others if you prefer) to bridge some ETH to StarkNet - make sure to specify your new Braavos address in the recipient field

https://www.layerswap.io

  • I’d suggest at least $5-10 bridged, post fees. (So $5-10 landing in your wallet, minimum)

REMEMBER! the more transactions you commit to each of these airdrops, the better your chances!

That’s transactions moreso than total transaction volume, but both matter.

With your shiny new StarkNet Ethereum, it’s time to transact:

  • Using JediSwap (JediSwap.xyz - check the URL!) - swap some of your bridged StarkNet ETH to a token of your choosing.

https://www.jediswap.xyz

  • You can go to DEXTools, select StarkNet, and pick a token from there. My choice was $LORDS - your mileage may vary with that one! For the best results, consider picking a couple/few options.

  • Record your new Braavos Wallet address somewhere handy - I recommend making a little note of each of the wallet addresses (including your main wallet / Zerion in my case) - we will need this info later!

That’s it!

tbh, waiting is patience is half the battle.

A few closing thoughts:

1. You can use earnifi or a platform of your choosing to scan your wallet for unclaimed airdrops.

https://earni.fi

2. A Bankless subscription is an option as well, and that’s what I’m currently using to auto monitor 13+ wallet addresses, complete with automatic email notifications if something is detected. (Bankless is a great service in general, I should add - the claimable tracking is just a small part.

https://www.bankless.com

3. You might consider following the relevant accounts on X - StarkNet, zkSync, Linea, etc. There are also X accounts that specialize in airdrop news.

4. BE CAREFUL! There are many convincing fake accounts that will direct you to malicious/phishing schemes. Always check usernames, follower count, URL, etc.- several of these (the real accounts) have posted about airdrop plans recently, which is factored into my chosen campaigns in this series.

5. You won’t see results immediately. Highly unlikely. My suggestion would be to complete these actions, repeat from time to time if you want to, and check for airdrops periodically.

That’s it for the first volume in this series!

Next time, we’ll be diving into either Linea, Scroll, or zkSync Era.

Along the way, we’ll try to hit a few more potential vectors, and we’ll be revisiting a couple of key players from this entry, to boost our chances - we love force multipliers!

This first entry will be broadly disseminated, but future updates will be limited to a members-only distribution.
