Having spent the last 7 years in the architecture industry, I found myself contemplating a bold transition from spatial design to crypto marketing. Why? I took a step back and reflected on my professional journey and future aspirations. The traditional architecture industry, while rich in history and craftsmanship, often seemed limited by traditional practices that didn’t always nurture innovation or professional growth. I have observed a pattern where young architects’ fresh perspectives and energy weren’t always valued as they could be, leading to a cycle of burnout that made me question if there might be another way to apply my creative talents.
This realization wasn’t just about leaving architecture — it was about looking for an environment where both creativity and well-being could exist together. While architecture will always be a noble profession, I felt called to explore new horizons where I could reshape my professional identity while honoring the valuable skills I have gained along the way.
A good friend of mine, lets call him Vee and he has been mumbling crypto mumbo jumbo in my ears for years but I’ve never paid much heed to it. All these crypto jargons honestly do sound like foreign language to me, albeit still in English, and to anyone new to web3. After stepping away from my previous role, I discovered a new frontier in web3. Each day brings fresh innovations and unexpected possibilities — a vibrant contrast to the well-worn paths of traditional architecture. While I respect architecture’s timeless legacy, I felt called to be part of something still taking shape, where the future is being actively written. This wasn’t just a career pivot; it was an embrace of constant evolution and the thrill of building tomorrow’s digital landscapes.
Now that I’ve chosen this path, I’m navigating these new waters with a mix of determination and curiosity. While my ultimate milestone is landing a role in web3, I’m discovering something fascinating along the way — my spatial design background isn’t just relevant, it’s becoming a unique lens through which I see this digital frontier. I will be writing a follow up on my findings in a later article.
The final trigger that catapulted my journey into the web3 universe is finding out about the SheFi program. Vee found out about the SheFi program by attending the Token 2049 event in Singapore in September 2024 and excitedly told me about it upon his return. At this point of writing, I am close to ending the program with SheFi and in retrospect, the program has been an absolutely amazing platform to onboard newcomers into the web3 space.
This journey into web3, while still unfolding, fills me with a sense of profound possibility. Like the evolution of architectural movements — each one a thoughtful response to what came before — this transition represents my own step forward. Web3 emerged to reimagine the limitations of web2, just as I’m now reimagining my professional path. In this vibrant space, I see more than just technological innovation; I see a culture that champions continuous learning, values mental well-being, and embraces constant evolution. It’s not merely a career change — it’s my personal renaissance, a move toward a future where growth and innovation dance together in endless possibility.
