Web1 is classified as the initial phase of the Internet. Websites were just simple pages of text and the occasional image. These pages didn’t offer much more than the information they displayed.

Web2 emerged as websites became more engaging and useful. At this stage, the internet is known for its most popular uses: social media, e-commerce, and entertainment. But Web2 also saw the Internet become heavily contained and controlled by large corporations. Internet users now experience the web through the products and services of companies like Google, Meta and Amazon.

Web3 is attempting to break away from control of these large organizations by using the blockchain as its foundation. Because of its decentralized nature, blockchain helps avoid these types of gatekeepers while offering more functionality and utility through things like cryptocurrency.

I am not a developer but I am enjoying my crypto experience through yield farming, trading NFT etc. Web3 is evolving and I am learning through use of various protocols such as Mail3, Mask Network, Dtools etc.
