The first week of EIF 3.0 was exciting. The week started with an online meeting with other fellows, mentors and the lovely folks from Devfolio.
In the meeting, the fellowship's whole timeline was clearly explained; basically, the first four weeks are all about learning and diving deep into solidity. For the first week, I solved the first two challenges of Speedrun Ethereum by Austin Griffith. I had a great time solving those challenges.
The first challenge was an NFT minting contract, which was pretty straightforward. Through this challenge, I became familiar with scaffold-eth and brushed up on ERC-721 tokens. I also brushed up on some of the basics of solidity by going through solidity-by-example docs.
The second challenge was a little bit more engaging than the first challenge. In this challenge, we had to write a decentralised staking contract. I learned quite a lot of stuff while going through this challenge. I took reference from solidity-by-example while doing this challenge and in the process, I refreshed on the basics, which I had forgotten. The second challenge was quite interesting because I missed a couple of edge cases on my first try, which I should’ve thought about.
I also enjoyed the pre-reads provided along with the challenges and got more familiar with the Defi space.
I am excited to go through the next set of challenges for the second week and learn more.
