MetaMask Swap Guide

For the discord members reading, or for the regular user looking for a decentralized way to swap between ethereum based tokens. Starting off first this will be on the polygon chain. If you dont have coins currently on the polygon chain you can use https://changenow.io which lets you swap any mainnet coin for another. You can also use https://renbridge.io to transfer bitcoin directly to the current supported ethereum based blockchains on the dapp. Alright, so back to the MetaMask Swap guide so i can get you in that merkle tree airdrop for the Metamask DAO.

You might see a red box above if liquidity for the coin is low, or it only has one pair on a decentralized exchange (DEX), and the liquidity pool might be unproportionally paired. In this case the liquidity pool is unproportionally paired slightly. Click “I understand” if you see this pop up.

You only have to do this step if you’re not on a EIP1559 supported ethereum based blockchain. Current EIP1559 supported ethereum based blockchains are Ethereum & Polygon(You don’t have to do this step if you’re on these chains). Not supported etheruem based blockchains as of today are binance, fantom, avalanche. The reason you want to change a gwei(gas fee) is to get ahead of MEV(Miner Extractable Value) bots / front runners. MEV bots / frontrunners at a low level understanding are bots on ethereum that will frontrun transactions, increasing the fee of the transactions (usually on trades/swap), and the bots will attempt to gain profit from you increasing your gas fee which is paid to the miners. So to avoid that, we increase the gas fee either by doubling it on polygon(because it’s cheaper & faster) or by setting a higher gas fee limit.

If You Notice Your Transaction Is Failing Double The Max Fee On Polygon or Increase by 20 points on Ethereum. Then Click Save.

After the transaction is done, you click the 3 lines at the top left and click “View on ***Scan” (Name is different for each blockchain).

You should see the coins you swapped to in your wallet now. Now you are apart of the merkle tree airdrop. Might want to swap as much as possibe though. The more you swap , you’ll recieve a greater amount of tokens from the airdrop!
