Ok so i needed some Matic on one of my MetaMask account to transfer a NFT on Polygon chain. Probably there was an easier way (like using the polygon bridge directly) but those gas fees ⛽️ are insane.
I found this video explaining how to save some gas fees etc by using another chain (i used BNB Smart Chain).
It was very helpful but i also found i had some BNB in another wallet to i could skip some steps in the video and only follow the second half of it.
This is what i did:
I sent BNB from Binance to MetaMask (add BNB Smart Chain to MetaMask)
Ok, so i now had BNB on BNB Smart Chain sent over to my MetaMask account, great! To get it over to Polygon i first needed to swap my BNB to USDC which i did over at Pancake swap. So now i have USDC on BNB Smart Chain, sweet.
Then i went over to Connext (old xpollinate) to move my USDC on BNB Smart Chain over to Polygon Mainnet (fig. 1).
So now i have USDC on Polygon Mainnet, Awesome! Almost there right? Well i went to Polygon bridge to swap my USDC for some Matic but when trying to sign the transaction it turned out you needed some Matic to swap to Matic (Whoooaaaat 🤯).
Turns out i wasn’t the only one confused about this.
After using their Swap for Gas feature i could finally swap my USDC to Matic and send my Polygon NFT to my other wallet
This only costed my a couple of $$$ instead of more than $55 if i' would have bridged over from Ethereum to Polygon 💸.

I hope i can update or create another post about this with way easier step sometime in the future 😆
Alright. Laters on the menjay.
