Linea Launches Mainnet

After three months of public testnet, Linea is now rolling out its mainnet to developers and users. Its fully EVM-compatible zk-rollup is designed to scale Ethereum with higher throughput and lower transaction fees.

ConsenSys is the company behind the project, and its team believes Linea can reduce transaction costs by up to 15 times less than Ethereum. This could help bring new dApps to the market and make current ones more cost-effective for their users. Linea supports Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) bytecode and integrates seamlessly with existing developer tools, making it simple for developers to migrate their projects to the platform without needing to change their code.

The first week of the Linea mainnet launch saw a number of new dapps and developers join the network. The network already boasts over 1.5 million weekly active users and is processing an average of 2.7 million transactions per day. It has also managed to reduce the amount of transaction fees it pays to Ethereum by passing these savings on to users.

Linea has partnered with the Ethereum Foundation and other key partners to support its dapp ecosystem and will continue to work closely with the community to further enhance its functionality. It is expected that a wide range of dapps and services will soon be available on the platform, from decentralized exchanges to dApp platforms.

One of the biggest selling points for Linea is that it offers a better developer experience than other solutions in its class. Its scalability is achieved by processing transaction data off-chain and storing only the necessary state information on-chain. This dramatically reduces the size of each Ethereum block and increases the number of transactions that can fit into it.

This approach also enables Linea to process transactions at a speed and cost that is up to 15 times less than Ethereum. This makes it an ideal platform for dapps that require high volumes of transactions, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and NFT trading platforms.

In addition to these performance gains, the zk-rollup is also more secure than other alternatives. This is because it uses an internal, lattice-powered prover to generate ZK proofs that are a hundred times faster than traditional methods. This means that proofs can be verified in just a few minutes, which is much quicker than the 15 seconds it takes for Ethereum to verify a single block.

The team has also announced that Linea is partnering with Nansen to provide extensive on-chain data analytics, helping developers and investors understand the state of the platform. The collaboration is the latest in a series of partnerships that will see Linea collaborate with other key players in the blockchain space to deliver on its promise as a trusted Ethereum L2 execution environment.
