How to buy your first NFT

Welcome back to the last and final day of your 7 day NFT journey.

Yesterday, we discussed what’s a DAO and the vision of the Black Cove DAO we’re building on Prysm Squads.

Now it’s time to buy your first NFT. When I share my crypto and NFT story with people who are crypto curious. The conversation always ends with, “How do I buy my first NFT?”

Without hesitation I always tell everyone they should buy a .eth or ENS domain. I’m sure you are thinking, “great another acronym”. We’ll make this one quick.

ENS stands for Ethereum Name Service. This NFT is helpful because it allows you to take the long hexadecimal address you got when you set up your digital wallet to a human readable name. For example, I have jasonbrewer.eth. It resolves to my 42-character hexadecimal Ethereum address.

If someone wanted to send me ETH. It’s easier to give them my jasonbrewer.eth ENS domain than 0xA04bCE26AccDb81ccE5418604E9C4e8154ebD4Ec.

If one character is entered incorrectly you can be sending funds or a digital asset to the wrong address. This makes life easier.

If you have 30 minutes, use the steps below to register your .eth ENS domain today!

Vocab of the Day

  • Ethereum Name Service - the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a distributed, open, and extensible naming system based on the Ethereum blockchain. ENS's job is to map human-readable names like 'alice.eth' to machine-readable identifiers such as Ethereum addresses, other cryptocurrency addresses, content hashes, and metadata.
