On Jan. 12, Optimism’s Goerli Testnet is migrating to Bedrock! Most users & apps won’t be impacted by the upgrade, and we’re working with node operators to ensure a smooth migration.
We’re almost ready to bring you the cheapest, fastest, most minimal EVM-equivalent rollup architecture, ever. Only 3 steps remain:

@OptimismGov vote on mainnet upgrade proposal Q1 mainnet migration to Bedrock🤯
Bedrock is Optimism, optimized. After the Bedrock upgrade, Optimism mainnet will offer the lowest possible L1 data fees. No other rollups have figured out how to get these fees lower. We will also be able to support multiple execution clients.
Bedrock also future-proofs our proof system. Optimism will be able to incorporate multiple proof mechanisms including ZK proofs— no need to wait for a ZK breakthrough to deploy on Optimism. When ZK tech is ready, you will be able to use it for your project.
The migration to Bedrock will enable us to implement two-step withdrawals for bridged assets, a unique solution that will make our bridge even more secure. This updated withdrawals design will let users monitor for bad behaviour themselves
The Bedrock upgrade will lay the foundation for Optimism for years to come, powering our most ambitious initiatives, including bespoke, modular blockchains. LFG, nerds!
