Arbitrum developers have expanded the language support for smart contracts

Arbitrum's L2 protocol, overseen by the Offchain Labs team, has taken a significant stride in expanding its smart contract language support with the introduction of the Stylus tool. This innovative development enables the creation of smart contracts in several widely-used programming languages.

The Offchain Labs team has not only made the Stylus solution code publicly available but has also initiated a public testnet, allowing developers to experiment with its capabilities.

"Arbitrum Stylus empowers developers to harness both traditional EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) tools and languages compatible with WASM (WebAssembly) like Rust, C, and C++ to craft applications on the Arbitrum network," as detailed by the development team.

One of the standout features of Stylus is its substantial reduction in gas costs, which opens the door to novel resource-intensive applications. These applications include C++-based games and advanced AI computing models that were previously out of reach due to prohibitive gas expenses.

This advancement signifies a notable step forward in making blockchain technology more accessible, versatile, and cost-effective for developers, potentially paving the way for a broader range of applications and use cases.
