Yesterday, I decided that my blogging career should come to an end. I was doing myself a disservice. I told myself that the goal of the posts was to dig deeper, peel back the layers, get down to the core. But by publishing online (or on-chain as the case may be), I was subconsciously writing for others, even if I told myself that I didn't care if others read. Every day for the past month, I’ve had a coffee date with AI. I literally sit down, with a cup of coffee, with an appointment on my calendar that says “coffee with AI”. It’s ugly in crypto land right now. As my cousin, who isn’t full-time in crypto, but is fairly knowledgeable said, “there’s no direction now. Something has to change.”
We’ve seen the first-generation of smart contract platforms (Ethereum) and we’ve seen the second-generation of smart contract platforms (Avalanche, Solana, Polkadot, Near). Neither of them have gotten beyond the proof-of-concept stage really. They aren’t production ready, either from a scalability, security, or usability perspective.
I can understand why he says we’re stuck.
Because it seems like we are.
But we’re not.
We’re still moving forward and, one day, it will all make sense.
We’ve been here before.
