Chu Wenwen, a “post-90s” girl, is currently the president of the Altay Nature Conservation Association in Xinjiang and is known as the “guardian of wild beaver life”. With the efforts of her and her team, the population of Mengxin beaver, a national key protected animal, has reached 600, an increase of 19.8% over three years ago.

Since the age of two, Chu Wenwen has been held by her father engaged in wildlife research to participate in field work and spent her whole childhood in the beautiful Altai mountain. After graduating from college, she followed her father’s footsteps and returned to her hometown to become a nature conservation worker.

In 2019, Chu Wenwen launched a public welfare project “beaver canteen” to plant shrub willows for beavers, which let more than 1 million netizens know that there are beavers in China. They donated snack money and planted more than 400000 shrub willow seedlings for the beaver babies.

In order to attract local herdsmen to participate in nature protection, Chu Wenwen’s team visited every herdsman along the more than 700 km ulungu River Basin, preached the significance of nature protection all the way, and launched the “beaver Guardian” public welfare project. Today, all 190 herdsmen have passed the field work skill training and become public welfare patrolmen of nature protection. In 2021, Chu Wenwen’s team launched the “beaver Ark” public welfare project with the support of netizens and the local government, and built China’s first professional beaver rescue center in Fuyun County, Xinjiang.

“I am very lucky to live in such a great era when a country strongly supports nature conservation and young people can show their aspirations. I believe that this harmony is the best that the world should have.” At the UN biodiversity conference held in Kunming, Chu Wenwen said as a Chinese youth representative.

Liu Ximeng, who was born in 2001, has long shouldered the burden of his family. After her birth, her mother was paralyzed in bed due to severe rheumatoid arthritis. At the age of 3, I began to learn to cook and wash clothes and take care of my mother’s daily life. At the age of 4, I went to kindergarten alone… “I was afraid, hesitant and helpless in the face of traffic and bustling pedestrians, but my concern for my mother at home drove me to go home at the first time.” Liu Ximeng recalled.

Since taking care of her mother for many years, Liu Ximeng has mastered various life skills such as massage, cupping and haircut since primary school. I insist on massaging my mother every day, turning over and covering her quilt on time, hoping her mother can recover as soon as possible.

In 2019, Liu Ximeng was successfully admitted to Harbin Normal University. “Only I can take good care of my mother.” She decided to go to college with her mother. The rush life of “rental house school” at two points and one line every day reassured her. In school, Liu Ximeng did not slow down the pace of struggle. Now he has become a glorious Communist Party member.

“My mother and I support and accompany each other. Life is from difficulty to beauty, and it will be better in the future.” Liu Ximeng never stopped on the road of pursuing her dreams, and her youth glittered in the honing.
