As many of you know this experiment initially started with a social messaging app that I have been working on since 2013. After failing to raise capital for the app, FlowerDog and I joined a Web3 program started by the messaging app Kik. In 2018 TBA became the first app in Apple’s App Store to allow people to earn and spend crypto when we used their social token $KIN to incentivize our users. The $KIN earned in our app was spent on Uber and Airbnb gift cards. But the Web3 community - during this time - was full of libertarians and people started calling TBA, TPA, “The Trump App”.
Although the Trump community took over our app, we noticed many users were having fun and getting along despite their political differences. FlowerDog and I noticed that these were some of the most compassionate and authentic people that we have ever met online. So after we ended the partnership with $KIN we realized our app needed to be invite-only if we wanted it to scale. We separated and took a year off and started to do some research on DAOs.
After I felt like I was ready, I contacted three women I had known and asked if they wanted to be the creators of TBA DAO; a social club and incubator for compassionate, authentic, and ambitious people. The idea is that TBA DAO will own 10% of The Blast App Inc in exchange for allowing TBA to be the official software provider for TBA DAO. They agreed and TBA DAO was formed.
Together we came up with these rules and core values:

Ability - Do you have the proper skills or can you learn the skills to accomplish tasks?

Going the extra mile - Are you willing to do things outside of your scope of work?
Ambition/Faith in yourself/the organization - Are you aligned with TBA’s vision?

The business model behind TBA DAO is one of a business incubator. We created a program called byTBA which allows core TBA members to create their own “microDAOs” or “microBrands”. So the idea here is that $TBA will be the grandmother of many other communities and tokens created by core members of TBA. The value of $TBA will be determined by the success of our byTBA projects. Our short-term goal is to successfully create a byTBA project before we launch our $TBA token. Our long-term goal is to build $TBA to be one of the most fairly distributed digital currencies in the world.
Here are the first two byTBA experiments:
TALK is a media platform founded by three core TBA members. Our mission is to use this media platform to learn in public and share our learnings with our community. $TALK is the token for the TALK community. It will be used to reward community members for helping us create media, host events, and share our stories. Our goal is to experiment with different ways we can reward and quantify compassion, authenticity, and ambition within the TALK community. We launched TALK on 8/10 at our launch event at Soho House in New York City.

Freedom Flowers are limited NFT collections with a mission to create online and offline experiences where FF collectors can come together, share ideas, and exist as their true selves. Freedom Flowers will serve as tokens, badges, and collectibles.
Token: Holders will have access to an upgraded experience in our app where they can do things like join private Freedom Flower chat rooms and purchase branded items of their unique FF NFT
Badge: Holders will be able to show their support for our collective mission to make the world a more authentic place
Collectible: Holders will have the option to trade, hold, transfer, or sell their Freedom Flowers

We currently partner with Roll (tryroll.com) to help build our treasury for $TALK. They have a product called Roll Memberships that will help us add utility to our $TALK token. Roll Memberships is a fungible on-chain membership model that works with any ERC20 token and it allows us to separate each membership tier into lots or groups of each token.
The last TALK event went well and we are planning our next event at Soho House in New York City for October. Chase Chapman, the creator of On The Other Side, is a confirmed panelist. Please let us know if you know anyone who would be an excellent fit for our panel.
