Gnoland, A smart contracting platform, supporting concurrent execution of smart contracts using the GnoVM which interprets Gno lang a modified version of Go envisioned by Jae Kwon the co-founder of Tendermint.
Why am i excited?
It's Jae Kwon's baby.. i do not have a crystal ball that can see the future products that will be based on Gnoland, Gnolang or make use of the GnoVM but i know that Jae has been ahead of that pack for many years and given he is dedicating his time to this project it is the main driver for me to dig deeper and play around on the testnets. A few key features that stand out to me.
-Interpreted Smart contracts / realms - Contracts have full source code visibility so that everyone case see what the contract is doing. Contract source codes are uploaded directly not precompiled binaries.
-Structure and Vanity addresses - Contracts are saved and referenced using paths similar to a github repo. Make sure you get a good name.
-Render function – built in it can display the contract variables dynamically using a http web proxy front end displaying mark down code from the contract. Allowing a user to make a http request to a contract and pass in a variable as part of the string and have that be executed by the contracted and displayed in the browser.
-Object oriented – other contracts can be imported into your contract and the functions can be referenced in an object oriented manner allowing for nested and complex variables.
-Tendermint 2.0 is a future projects that has been proposed to be built from the foundations that the current gnoland project introduces. Tendermint 2.0 will not replace the existing Tendermint consensus mechanism used by many chains today but will be an alternative. It has been said that this could be considered similar to the relationship between python2 and python3
-Non VC backed, massively airdropped to community; 75% of the GNOT initial supply is being airdropped to ATOM staked based on the independence day snapshot and other allocations are being given the team and early contributors.
Gno land is currently in test2 testnet and there is atleast one more testnets remaining before mainnet; so this might not be launch next week or even this year but it something to defiantly keep an eye on and you can get involved right now by checking out Awesome-Gno for all the latest official links and get into the discord and join the party.
